Justice Violet's Girls

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

My Mom was named Violet;
Her Mom was named Violet too.
Miss Violet, Miss Violet, Justice Violet's two Violets,
Sweet Violets so beautifully grew.

My Mom had a daughter who did what she oughter,
Grew up, found a man, had a son.
That daughter was me, years ago, don't you see.
But I could not stop with just one.
So I had a daughter who did what she oughter,
Grew up, found a man, had a son.
She then had a daughter who did what she oughter,
Grew up, found a man, grew a FLOWER.

It's Violet, sweet Violet, one more little girl,
One more in the clan of the Violets.
And YOU, dear Justice, can you SEE how we grew?
IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!

Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

Suggestion: Read aloud, saying each word clearly (clear enunciation). Practice getting each word, working up speed without missing any syllables. Slow down on the last two lines to give emphasis for the big serious question in this light-hearted genealogy poem. Choral reading would not be out be out of place either. I don't know when Justice Violet was born, but his daughter (Bertha Violet) was born in September of 1886. Her daughter was born in May of 1904. The newest Violet mentioned, whom I call "Baby Violet" in my other websites, was born on January 1, 2008. The photos of each of these people in the poem can be found within my various websites. My apology goes to Baby Violet's lovely Aunt Joanna, not mentioned in the poem because she has not (yet ?) given birth to any of Justice Violet's descendants. Also, Bertha Violet (Bebe) had other children besides "Violet, Mother of Eve Adam."

Miss Bertha Violet and her daughter "Violet, Mother of Eve Adam" as well as their ancestor, Justice Violet, can be seen in the website linked below:

My Question: The newest member of my family is the Baby Violet who was born on New Year's Day of 2008. I have been thinking of Justice Violet lately because I realize that he was my great-grandfather, only as far back from me as I am back from Baby Violet. As I was growing up, he was no closer to me in my thoughts than just an old fashioned photo that I saw only a few times. I was never curious then to know more. Now I wonder about him. Was he as aware of me in my childhood as I am aware of Baby Violet now? He had died before my Grandmother Bebe was nine years old. Since life after death is a reality to me, my question is "Did he care about us?" Eve Adam (Harmonic Eve) October 3, 2008
