Spring Cleaning

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

Some people with zeal
Can't see what is real.
A woman I know
Puts on a big show
Of paintings and sculptures,
Not seeing the vultures
Disorder and Dust ---
But face it, she must!
Her vision is poor,
'Tho resolve is now sure.
"I'M NOT A BUG!"
Says the dustball, so smug.
Yet it's squashed anyway,
Not to live another day.
Some people with zeal
Can't see what is real.

Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

From my email to Gai in Australia on March 20, 2008:

I attempted some cleaning in the laundry room, after I became frantic because the dryer would not start when I had just washed a load. I moved some things around, then switched the plug out of where it was and into the electrical outlet where the washer had been plugged in. Moving stuff made me aware of the cleaning that was needed. I did not have my glasses on, and one bit of something looked like a bug. I tried to squash it before I realized it was not a bug. I realized what happens to us is not so much a result of what we are as how we are perceived to be. Thus began the words, "I'm not a bug," says the dustball, so smug. There have been times in my life when I have been accused of being something totally different from the way I perceive myself to be, and I am aware that happens to other people too. So there is a deeper meaning here, which readers are free to discern or totally ignore, but I hope it is fun to read for its rhythm and rhyme anyway. (Harmonic Eve)
