~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is me when I was 4 months old. I am now a full grown cat ...all of 15 pounds. If you want to see how I've grown, check back later. Mom finally got me to pose for the camera, and she will be posting another photo of me soon.
This photo of me is not as cruel as it looks ~ I did a lot of bird-watching from the Florida Room, and when I was ready to come in, I would scratch the door to let mom know I was ready for a nap, or just plain bored with the birds.
I'm a unique cat, in that I prefer canines over felines. The reason being that I grew up with Pomeranians, and they are really my best friends.
My one best friend Sassy and my buddy Mokey got together and decided to have a family, so I now have 2 baby Poms to train. Friend Sassy's photo with newborn babies is also on this page. She delivered 4 babies, but we had to share the other 2 with Sassy's family.
We are one big happy family, and mom loves us very much.
NOTE: Don't forget to check out my friend Sassy and Mokey's history.
Breed Profile:
This long haired cat first imported from Russia in 1990 is gaining popularity with the cat fanciers. The Siberian is a large, well muscled cat with great intelligence and strong loyalty to it's caregivers. The cat seems to be able to problem solve, knows it's name, comes when it is called ~ and will follow you around like a puppy. Siberian cats come in all colors.
Although the Siberian can be quite heavy, they are very agile on their feet and very quiet when jumping. They do have the sweet chirping sounds when they talk. Some allergy suffers are able to own Siberians when they have had no pets for years.
The Siberian Cat is a natural survival breed that has existed in its Russian homeland for hundreds of years, and was shown in cat shows as early as the 1700's. Siberians are recent arrivals to the United States, coming to this country in June 1990. They are a large, strong cat with a thick, bushy tail, muscular body and dense fur. Weight ranges from about 9 to 15 pounds for females and 13 to 22 pounds for males.
Siberians are playful throughout life, being an active breed. They are very affectionate and devoted to their people, being loyal and loving companions. Siberians are very intelligent and are easy to train with their gentle, good-natured, dog like personalities. Siberians enjoy being handled and cuddled, and they love to "help" their people do things at every opportunity. Generally quiet, they speak with purrs, chirps, & squeaks and body language. Many of them like to mouth fingers and toes, even giving soft "love bites" to their loved ones. They mature in 4 to 5 years with most of their size reached before they are 3 years old.  Time after that is for filling out and maturing.
Hypo Allergenic:
Siberians are quite unique in that they have little or no of the felD-1 protein that most people with allergies react to. The felD-1 protein is secreted through the sebaceous glands in the skin which are stimulated by licking when the cat grooms itself. Since Siberians have little or no felD-1 protein, they cause little or no reaction in people with cat allergies or asthma.
Many allergy prone people can enjoy this large, long-haired cat without suffering allergic reactions.  (I speak from personal experience, being asthmatic and allergic to cats in general.  With Siberians I can have a multi-cat  household with no wheezing and no asthma from the Siberians, even when I bury my face in their thick fur.)
Siberian cats have beautiful, easily maintained triple coats only needing brushing when they're shedding their winter coats in spring or early summer, but they like to be brushed and pampered anytime you're willing, so you don't have to wait until spring shedding to build a brushing/grooming bond.
This is me with my best friend Mokey who I spend my days and nights with. He was then a puppy just 5 monhs old ~ and needed a playmate, so mom adopted me to occupy him. We were inseparable then, and still sleep together on mom's bed.
