1305 - WILLIAM DE FERIBY of York, draper granted freedom of city (Surtees Society, vol. 96)

1309 - dated 5 Nov. at York, Commission of oyer and terminer to John de Insula and John de Gras on complaint by WILLIAM DE FERIBY that Thomas de Helmyngburgh, Reginald de Swynton, John de Barneby, & Peter Gobet, with others, assaulted him at York and carried away his goods (P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II 1307-1313, 1894/1971, vol. 1, p. 246).

1312 - dated 7 Mar. at York, Inspeximus and confirmation to the prior and convent of Bridlington of divers grants, confirmations, and quitclaims... and a toft and 26 acres of land in Barton also of the service of GERARD son of RALPH DE FERIBY with all his lands which he held from Gilbert de Gaunt, .... 1316 - dated 15 Feb. at Lincoln, Protection with clause for one year for William Purcel staying in England, has like letters nominating WILLIAM DE FERIBY his attorney in Ireland (P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II, 1313-17, 1898/1971, vol.2, pp. 391-2).

1317 - dated 4 Jan. at Westminster, Writ of aid until Midsummer for JOHN DE FERIBY king's serjeant whom the king is sendng to purvey hay, oats, and litter, etc. (P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II, 1313-17, 1898/1971, vol.2, p. 607).

1318 - JOHANNES DE FERIBY, clericus, petition dated Michaelmas to parliament concerning Robert Akesby of York (source ?).

1318 - 2 March, Westminster, JOHN DE FERYBY, clerk, has letters to the abbot and convent of Welhou near Grimesby to receive the pensions that they are bound to find for one of the king's clerks... (P.R.O. _Calendar of Close Rolls Edward II 1313-8, 1893/1971, vol. 3, p. 599).

1319 - no one with the surname FERIBY (or variants) in the London Subsidy Roll of 1319 or the 1292 London Subsidy Roll (_Two Early London Subsidy Rolls, 1951)

1319 - dated 24 May. Commission of oyer and terminer to John de Sutton, Robert le Conestable, William de Ruston on complaint of Helmyngde Osenbrugge merchant of Almain for conveyance to Boston to trade there, Richard Kelyng, William de Contes, WILLIAM DE FERIBY (et al. 50+ people) boarded the ship when off the coast near Ravenshere co. York, on a voyage from Mellyng to Boston, seized the ship and goods and brought them to land near Ravenshere, divided the goods and sold parts thereof to men who were party to the trespass, did their pleasure to the ship, killed Arnald de Stoupedan master of said ship and all the men on board her and cast them into the sea.(P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II 1317-21, 1903/71, vol.3, pp. 365-6).

1320 - dated 23 Feb. Protection with clause volumus until Whitsuntide for RICHARD DE FERYBY, JOHN DE FERYBY, (et al. 20+) going beyond the seas on the king's service ( O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II 1317-21, 1903/71, vol.3, p.418).

1320 - dated 9 Nov. Commission of oyer and terminer to Henry Baiocis, John Cheynel, and Henry de Fenton on complaint of Adam de Kydale that WALTER son of JOHN DE FERIBY, and JOHN his son and WILLIAM brother of the same JOHN, Walter prior of Thorneholme, and Ralph de Haytefeld his fellow canon, and John Frankish, with others, assaulted him at Ferriby co. Lincoln and also Roger de Lofthouses his servant (P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II 1317-21, 1903/71, vol.3, p.545). These same charges are named in a commission of oyer and terminer dated 18 Aug. 1321 to Robert de Maberthorp, Simon de Chamberleyn, and Nicholas de Bolyngbroke, however in addition to the Feriby men, Robert son of Robert Gunnice of Apelby is named as co-defendant and the prior Walter and Ralph de Hayfield are omitted (P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II 1321-4, 1904/71, vol. 4, p.56).

1321 - NICHOLAS DE FERYBY a neighbor of Robert Denys. On 21 Dec.1321 Denys died in house of his father in parish of All Hallows de Bredestreete in the ward of Cordwainerstreete (London Coroners' Rolls 1300-1378).

1322- 25 March, Presentation of RICHARD DE FEREBI to the church of Emeldon in the diocese of Durham in the king's gift by reason of the lands late of Thomas earl of Lancaster being in his hands by forfeiture (P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II 1321-4, 1904/71, vol. 4, p. 85).

1322 - 28 Nov. Presentation of RICHARD FERIBY to the church of Wylmerle in diocese of York in the king's gift by reason of the lands of Thomas late earl of Lancaser being in his hands (P.R.O. _Calendar of Patent Rolls Edward II 1321-4, 1904/71, vol. 4, p.221).

1326 - WILLIAM DE FERIBY clerk to William of Melton Archbishop of York. Letters of tenor, sealed and dated 14 Nov.1326 to William Archbishop of York directing him to deliver to the said bishop (Walter de Norwyco) the keys and other things in his keeping touching the office of treasurer of the Exchequer. ((This is the coronation of Edward III. Thomas de Usflete first appears as clerk of the Great Wardrobe in 17 Edward II and remains at this job till at least 10 Edward III. 1329-1331 - "JOHN DE FERRIBY, clerk of the King's works at Westminster and the Tower from 1329 to 1331, came of an important administrative family from the East Riding of Yorkshire. He was also a clerk of the privy seal and comptroller of the Great Wardrobe,and was empowered to excercise his office of the works by deputy 'by reason of his constant attendance on the king'. 1330s - EMMA FERRIBY marries Gerard Usflete (Uflete, Ousefleet) son of John de Usflete and Lora or Loretta Furnival the heiress of the Furnival lands in Swanland and North Ferriby. This Gerard Usflete evidenty married three times, first to Margaret dau. and co-heir of Sir John Armine, secondly to Emma Ferriby with no issue (?), thirdly to Isabel de Ella with male issue. His son, Sir Gerard Usflete, knt. (c.1340 - 1406) is in the retinue of John of Gaunt in France, sheriff of Yorks 1383, marries Elinor dau. of Ralph Legard of Anlaby. Issue; 1-Sir Gerard d.s.p.1420, 2-Joan, m.Sir Miles Stapleton of Wighill, 3-Katherine, m. William Beauchamp (d.1422) of Powick, 4-Isabel, m. Robert Holdunby (Haldenby), 5-Anne, m. 1333 - To WILLIAM DE FERIBY of Ravensrod.
Dated 29 March Pontefract. Order to cause his ship 'la Margarette' of Ravensrod which is reputed to be the best ship of that town to come with all speed to that town to set out with the king in his service against the Scots ... because the king has released them (people of Ravensrod) from providing the hobeler and 6 archers which they had been assesed by te arrayers in the East Riding of Yorkshire (PRO. _Calendar of Close Rolls Edward III 1333-37. 1898/1972, vol. 3, p. 99).

The Privy Seal oversaw the royals personal expenses.
