I had the pleasure to attend the February DWIN evening meeting on 2/3/2010. The guest speaker was Ellis Robinson who spoke to us about Ruth's List Florida. Ruth's List is named for Ruth Bryan Owen, the first woman elected to Congress from the South.
Ruth's List is a vehicle used to elect progressive Democratic women in Florida. They accomplish this with candidate recruitment, training, mentoring and campaign assistance. They give their skills, time and finances to help pro-choice Democrat women win elections. Ellis provided eye opening statistics that were very interesting.

We are headed to the Cattyshack Ranch (a refuge for tigers and other large and/or endangered cats) with ImpactJAX (and many others!) on the North Side to help build den boxes, clean areas for build outs, set up perimeter fencing, paint, cement work and building hurricane shelters. There*s plenty to keep us busy from 9am to 1pm, so come ready to be outdoors and working. Must wear closed toed shoes, wear working clothes and bring working gloves. After all the hard work, kick back and relax with us at Wild Wings!

The Clay County DEC and members will be scheduling fundraisers to raise donations for our Headquarters. The headquarters is located on:

Dolly Simplot ~ "Vice-Chair" has received a scheduling application from Jeff Branch ~ Alex Sink's "Campaign Coordinator" to tentatively set dates for our fundraiser. Alex Sink ~ "Candidate for Governor" will be invited to be our "SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER".
Dolly has also received an application from the Kendrick Meeks campaign scheduler "Raena Davis" We will be setting the dates on another fundraiser for our Headquarters. Kendrick Meek ~ "Candidate for U.S. State Senate" will be invited to be our "SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER"
We will be so PROUD and HONORED to have Alex Sink and Kendrick Meek in Clay County. They will help us raise donations for our Headquarters. Clay County DEC and its members are so proud to finally have it's own Headquarters in Orange Park

We are gearing up for another exciting year of training here at DFA and as someone who has attended one of our trainngs in the past three years, you know how effective they can be for a local progressive community.
We've updated our materials and added some excellent new trainers to our program this year. We're also starting a progressive job placement program in coordination with Democratic GAIN to help connect compaign job seekers to the progressive campaigns who need them.

DCCA RETREAT REGISTRATION FORMS !!!
3rd Annual DCCA retreat!
Several people have asked if they can start signing up, so I wanted to get the information out ASAP.
We are still finalizing the schedules and training topics - trying to get everything covered - especially the coordinated campaign, Votebuilder training, working in every size county, and precinct/community outreach. We are also working on networking events that will allow time for the regions to begin their coordinated strategy for winning in 2010.

LOCATION: Orlando Lake Mary Marriott
The room rate is $99/night and the Retreat is $50 (includes Breakfast, Break and Saturday evening reception).
We are going back to the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary ~ it's a great hotel for this type of event.
