This is a great opportunity for advanced students and aspiring professional belly dancers to gain experience performing in an authentic professional ethnic restaurant venue. These events are held in local restaurants that specialize in ethnic cuisine and atmosphere.
Similar to the concept of karaoke, this is an unpaid event, but can provide valuable performance experience for aspiring dancers. The venue is best suited for solo, duets or trios at the most. The physical setting does not allow for stage performances and generally can not accomodate troupes.
Requirements vary with each restaurant and are determined by the restaurant managment. Participants may be expected to also purchase dinner at the establishment.
At the request of restaurant management, it is
important that the music, performance and costuming reflect and honor the culture and atmosphere of the host restaurant.
In order to assure that the performances promote the atmosphere the restaurant provides for all of its customers, dancers participating in open dance night must have attained an advanced skill level and have restaurant worthy costuming.
Each event is hosted by a dancer who determines the theme, music and line up for the night. To sign up to perform, contact the hostess.
