Reviews: "Besides being a master of Blues, Rockabilly, and Funk, as demonstrated on this album, Larry Hunt is also a first-rate jazz and classical pianist and composer. He has also written many excellent Pop/Rock songs. He inspired me enormously when I was a teenager, previous to recording with Pete Townshend and Phil Collins; and to what I am doing today as a composer and recording artist." - Raphael Rudd, 1996 (see www.rhino.com/rzine/StoryKeeper.lasso?StoryID=10 ). "The man is capable in all areas. Instrumentally, he comes on like a steamroller, and makes changes often enough to keep it interesting from start to finish. The vocals are strong, too, and his raspy vocal style has some range. I get a strong sense from this CD that he writes from the heart - he thinks about song content before finding the hook.....Rob Selkow, Brevard Live Music & Culture Magazine. "This CD showcases Hunt's stellar piano playing, able blues vocals, muscular harp (harmonica) work, and capable songwriting. I'm willing to bet that he kicks out the jams in front of a crowd - maybe a live record is in order for next time? - Mark Warren, Jam Magazine. "Soul Survivor" features strong organ and acoustic piano work. Imposing Hunt works with some good players who cover blues, rock and 12-bar boogie with ease - you're in for some pretty tasty treats! - Joseph Jordan, Blues Access magazine. |
