I will let the photos and sound clip do the talking on this engine. I will say that this engine runs almost exactly the same (RPM) as the regular early Cox Babe Bee engines. Advantage of this engine might be that there is NO reed valve to worry about, and no rubber "O" ring to go bad at the tank/backplate butt joint .... also very easy radial mounting with a super short profile?

And here is the engine running (first prototype)..... you might notice the longer venturi stack and the Gold Case. The Red Case model above is the final prototype, I decided to also shorten the velocity stack just a bit too in order to get the needle valve a little further away from the prop. In the sound clip you will hear the engine start out rich, then leaned out to about 12,500 RPM, then rich again. This was the very first test block runs on this engine design concept. The final Red Case version after a short break-in will hold a steady 13,000 plus RPM turning a Cox Gray 6-3 prop, this using 25% nitro fuel. |

I hope you all have enjoyed these model engines as much as I have enjoyed developing, testing, and finally presenting them to you! |
