LOST BROTHER!!

Please help me find my half-brother before it's too late. Time is running out! [Today is Sun., Apr. 24, 2005 - I started this page on Feb. 20, 2005] ANNOUNCEMENT (SEE UPDATES BELOW)

My brother "Chuck" at age 2 yrs.

Charles Holmes Bunnell, III, born abt 1932 in Evanston?, Cook Co., IL. Parents: Charles Holmes Bunnell, Jr. b. Jan. 8, 1905, Chicago, Cook Co., IL and Susanna Packham, b. Nov. 1, 1907 in Springfield, Clark Co., Ohio. Charles III, last seen in 1934... the year after his parents divorce in 1933 IL... after which, according to my family, Susanna and 2 yr. old Charles disappeared never to be seen again...

Additional Information: In the 1930 NY Census, Chas. H. Bunnell, Jr. and Susanna are married and living on Bailey Ave. and 230th St., Bronx, NYC. He is listed as Undertaker; owns store (Bunnell Funeral Home)

UPDATES:

4/24 - I am sorry to announce that my brother is no longer with us. Sadly, Chuck died many years ago in an auto accident shortly after graduating from Little Rock HS in 1949. I am in touch with a former classmate who will be sending me additional information and photos from the L.R.Yearbook, which I will be adding to this page soon. 3/1 - The Newberry Library in Chicago, IL has notified me of an Engagement Notice in The Chicago Tribune dated Aug. 22, 1929 for Charles Holmes Bunnell, Jr. and Susanna Packham. (3/5 - See the NOTICE and PHOTO of Susanna on Page 2)

3/2 - From The Chicago Tribune; Oct. 25, 1933 - Divorces Mate - Susanna Packham-Bunnell, 495 Sheridan Rd., Evanston [IL], was granted a default divorce from Charles Homes Bunnell, Jr. of New York yesterday. Custody of their son, Charles III, was awarded to the mother. They were married in 1929. (3/5 - NOTICE and PHOTO on Page 3)

3/6 - From The Chicago Tribune... OBITUARY: Charles M. PACKHAM (Susanna's father); 604 Sheridan Rd., Evanston, IL; on Jan. 28, 1953 (See Page 4)

3/11 - Arthur F. Gildehaus (Susanna's 2nd husband) found in Little Rock, Arkansas City Directories 1942 - until at least 1951. Was Susanna, and son Charles, living in Little Rock at the time of her father's death in IL 1953?

3/12 - I believe I have found Edith Packham (Susanna's mother) in the SS Death Index. She died in June of 1974 in Little Rock, AR. Apparently, Edith went to live with her dau, Susanna, after the death of her husband, Charles M. Packham in 1953 IL There is another Edith Packham listed... Could this be her? Edith T. Packham, b. Apr 8, 1887 OH; d. Feb. 6, 1981 in Mansfield, Richland Co., OH

3/15 - I have found my father and Susanna in the 1931 Evanston (IL) City Directory. They are living with her parents at 495 Sheridan Rd. Charles, III, born in '31 or '32, assume Evanston - not New York as previously thought. I will try to get his birth certificate from Cook Co. Vital Records.

3/21 - The Clark County Genealogy Society (CCGS) in Springfield, OH has found Susanna's birth record. She was born in Springfield, OH on Nov. 1, 1907. I then went to the SSDI and found her under AMES, Susanna P. (3rd marriage?). Susanna died in May of 1992 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Hopefully, I can find an obituary for her which should tell me where my brother is...

3/25 - Someone has found a Death Notice for Susanna in the The Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Apparently she died on May 20?, 1992 in Davenport, Iowa - not Little Rock, AR as previously thought. The notice says she was a former resident of Little Rock. I am now looking for her obit in Davenport. Stay tuned...

3/26 - The Quad City Times, Davenport, IA has Susanna's obit! She died May 18, 1992 in Davenport. I have sent for a copy from the Davenport Public Library...

3/31 - I am still waiting for Susanna's obituary. I was told it might take up to 10 days. Please check back in a few days. Thanks! Jackie
