Welcome to the web page of Jimmy Scalia. Let me share some of the things I have done for some very talented and interesting people that I was very fortunate to be associated with in some way. Let me just say music is not just a love but a way of life for me. Life as does music begins with a beat. Along with many styles of music and artists that I have respect for the one most admired would have to be Bobby Darin. Just the sheer determination and versatility of one man can be so inspirational to others. Quite a number of years back I met a wonderful women by the name of Linda Johnson. Linda decided to make a Bobby Darin Page. Well, years later Bobbydarin.com is considered one of the finest sites on the internet. In comes Harriet Wasser. Harriet was a close personal friend and business partner to Bobby Darin. Harriet Wasser was very instrumental in teaming up Bobby Darin with Richard Wess to do the an Lp by the title of "That's All". On that Lp was a song titled "Mack The Knife". Need I say more? Harriet also was involved with such artists as The 4 Seasons, Steve Lawrence, Lou Christie and singer, songwriter and producer Bob Crewe. Bob Crewe wrote hit songs as "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and Patty LaBelle's hit song "Lady Marmalade just to name a few. Harry Belefonte would refer to Harriet as "Hesh" and which I affectionately call her. She also was very, very good friends with Sammy Davis Jr. and the late Tito Puente. Now at this point I started providing a service for Hesh by putting some of her old accetates on to CD of her friends such as Julius La Rosa and even Bob Crewe. And I also starting providing some rare material to Dj's when they were doing Darin Radio Specials. Especialy when Harriet was guest speaker on the shows. (Which she has done very often.) I also was fortunate to supply the very talented Mr. Buddy Greco with a CD copy of his Italian Lp titled " My Last Night In Rome" which in my opinion is one of the finest Italian records I've heard. I am now scheduled to provide more of services for Buddy. A man steps into my life by the name of Steve Blauner. Now, if you don't know who who Steve Blauner is, you should! Steve Blauner was not only manager to Bobby Darin but to Dick Haymes as well. Steve Blauner was very close to Sammy Davis Jr. also. Not only did Steve Blauner work at Screen Gems but his production company was responsable with the film "Easy Rider" with Peter Fonda and "The Last Picture Show" Steve also was affiliated with "The MONKEES" In Steve I found a great collector. And so now I have a wonderful partner when it comes to collecting. The generosity he shows to my family and myself is staggering. Speaking of staggering when Bobby Darin was inducted into "The Song Writers Hall Of Fame" June of 1999. Steve Blauner and Dodd Darin (Bobby's son) presented my wife Dina and I with two tickets to sit at table number one. (which was the Bobby Darin table) Harriet Wasser was present and so was Bobby's brother Gary. I was fortunate enough to video tape the event which had such celebrities as Judy Collins, Tony Bennett, Jose Feliciano, Billy Joel, Kenny Rogers, Tim Rice and so many more. And the highlight for me was in the acceptance speech for Bobby's induction, Bobby's son's letter thanked everyone from Wayne Newton to Steve, Harriet, Sammy Davis Jr., Dick Clark and Linda Johnson and Jimmy Scalia. http://www.bobbydarin.net/ddshofspeech.html I also was fortunate that evening to meet Ahmet Ertegun who is the founder and president of Atlantic records. I was pleased to be able to present him with a video of the Bobby Darin induction for his personal collection. I have also received credit in the liner notes of several Bobby Darin CD's. Titled "Swingin' The Standards" and "The Best Of Bobby Darin 1966-1969" both on the Varese Sarabande label and the recently 2 CD set titled "The Very Best Of Bobby Darin" from YESTERYEAR MUSIC. More recently I have been providing material to academy award winning actor Kevin Spacey and his staff for the upcoming major motion picture on Darin tiled "Beyond The Sea" which is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2004. I have worked with Grammy award winner JOEL DORN on a Darin CD/DVD titled "Aces Back To Back" Recently produced the Dain DVD tiled "Seeings Believing" At present I am working on a Live Buddy Greco cd from the Sands titled Absolutely! Ultimately! LIVE I was involved with the biography on Bobby Darin which was aired on the A&E network. I am also an active member in the "Society Of Singers" and "The Songwriters Hall Of Fame" I may be reached at: JimmyScalia@yahoo.com Jimmy Scalia "Where Sight And Sound Meet" |

Pioneering founder of Atlantic Records Ahmet Ertegun died in New York on December 14, 2006 . The 83-year-old native of Turkey had a music career that spanned four decades and crossed several genres.
The roster of artists who worked with Ertegun at Atlantic Records ranged from Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett to Led Zeppelin, Bobby Darin and the Rolling Stones.
In his later years, Ertegun remained a strong presence in the music business. He slipped into a coma after falling backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in October.

March, 2002
A LETTER TO SCALIA FROM HARRIET WASSER June 13, 2002 :
Dear Jimmy,
Thank you for a friendship made in heaven.
Thanks to you, I can relive Steve Kaiser's tribute to me at the Chez Suzette this past March whenever I want. Your recording of this event on CD is awsome.
It is a night I will never forget with so many of my friends there. Your words touched my heart and made me realize who it was that brought us together.....BOBBY DARIN.
