(**NEW - Escati CGI Counter with daily & monthly reports): (See the Escati directions at end of this tutorial)
The directions for using the counter were posted by Mechtild (Barbara) in alt.pagebuilder.help ...this is her directions for using the basic counter code:
``````````````````````````````````````````
"Place the following code on your page and publish the page:
<img width="50"height="25"src="http://sipb-server-1.mit.edu/cgi/counter/your_user_name@webtv.net"alt="counter">
"This is a free counter and is not connected with any counter service. If you want to put it on more than one page, simply change the user-name, a different user-name for each different page. For example: monica1, monica2, monica3, etc. Barbara "
``````````````````````````````````````````
NOTE: At the bottom of this page there is a text-area which will allow you to easily CC&P the counter's code.

CREATE an IMAGE-STORAGE PAGE:
After you have uploaded the Monkey.gif (or, the Clown.gif) to your scrapbook, you will then need to put it on a published storage-page in order to obtain the Monkey.gif's new URL.
If you don't already have an image-storage page to link from, then follow these steps to create one:
- Go to Pagebuilder; and
- Click on "Create"
- Select the "Grey" background (on page 2)
- Title your page "gif" (keep it simple)
- Click on "Add an item"
- Click on "Picture"
- Click on "Your Scrapbook"
- Click on your image
- Click on "Done"
- Click on "Publish"
- Do NOT EVER check the "Show title on page" box
Get the URL of your Monkey.gif:
- Paste your image-storage page's address (URL) into the window below (if you came here directly from your new page its url will already be in the window)
- Next, press the "View Images" button
- Then, click the last button
...and, you'll then see the URL of your Monkey-counter image.
To use the Monkey.gif:
- Put your new extracted monkey.gif URL into the code - (but, you must delete the "-1" or "-2" number after "community" in the image's URL).
- Change YOUR_USER_NAME1@webtv.net to your own user name and counter number - this is important! You must do this to set the counter to zero.
- Paste the code into your page
This is what my code for the counters on this page looks like:
<table bgcolor="#000000"border="2"><tr> <td align="center"><img src="/kdine4/gif/scrapbookFiles/importD36.gif"alt="monkey"><BR><img width="50"height="25"src="http://sipb-server-1.mit.edu/cgi/counter/kdine9@webtv.net"alt="counter"> </table>
