1) a. Please be considerate of others by being brief with the loading of Sigs. That includes graphics, audio, pics, urls, backgrounds, etc...so that we can readily read/respond to posts. If your sig takes more than a minute to load, that's kinda slow. Some sigs may even need a Cmd R or a reload from your Option key. I suggest checking your own sig daily among the newgroups.
b. Linkable or clickable audio (midi/wav) may be used if it doesn't slow things down too much. Use of RAM is NOT allowed as it creates problems for some webby box users.
2) Some people may need to use (ALL CAPS) for visual aid when posting. You may return in kind when responding to that person. CAPS used to emphasize something is okay too. Some NG's do not permit this, but i don't mind.
3) Profanity is discouraged, but may be used discreetly on occasion.
4) Before posting a website/url, double check it and make sure it's still accessible. Sometimes a site saved from a favs folder no longer exists or has been redirected elsewhere. A brief intro would also be nice. Typos can happen. Please feel free to make a correction.
5) Posts cc&p'd from here or elsewhere with rude intentions (gossip) is unbecoming. However, info shared from other sources including postings from newsgroups are okay. Also, spam will be deleted at the hostess' discretion.
6) Newsgroup announcements are fine. Please include your Tagline and a link to the Charter with a way to enter the newsgroup. Also, a brief description would be nice. If it is a private ng, please provide a contact. Thank you.
7) Adding to a subject line is fine, but changing the beginning of it can cause threads to meld. Also, bringing up old threads is okay if you have something to add. Please use discretion when doing so.
8) Although we are a friendly group, many come and go while others stay. Please do not be offended if there is not a welcome thread, although i will do my best to acknowledge every newcomer. I am thankful for all who visit.
9) Thursdays is OPEN MIC, when ANY topic is welcome [within MSN TOS] If you wish to continue from the previous week's discussion, have something relevant to add; otherwise please post in the current Open Mic thread. Controversial topics such as religion and politics are also welcome and I ask that all who post, to please be civil minded and considerate of one another. Everyone has a right to their opinion and should not be unduly criticized for expressing their point of view.
10) Any behavior found to be harassing and/or insulting to participants here will not be tolerated.
Possible resolves for inappropriate posts and/or unwelcomed emails to me or participants of the history legends newsgroup:
a) perhaps a warning but maybe not
b) temporary/permanent ban by box
c) two-week suspension of posting in ng
d) removal of post or thread if necessary
e) will notify msntv if needed
So please be courteous and let your conscience be your guide. Enjoy posting as your valued comments will encourage others and help generate feedback. Browse as you like and post when ya can. We're open 24/7
