A brief history of my musical involvement.
Since around 1977, I have been interested in playing the guitar. My first real guitar was a Gibson SG. I bought it at the local flea market for $350, along with a Fender solid state amp. I don't have either any more. Too bad. Worth good money now.
It was in this period of time when friend Zane and I began to figure out what guitars were all about, and started to accumulate a lot of musical gear. Zane had a better ear for playing than I did and showed me a lot. We jammed together and became very interested in this pursuit. I also learned a lot from watching Andy play. He was a mad man on the guitar in those days, and I was always entertained.
Around 1980 I was asked by some friends to play bass guitar in their band. So I went to the local music store and picked one up, a Peavey, along with an old Peavey amp. They called the band Liquid Rainbow. We rehearsed for awhile (all original material arranged by the guitar players) and then began to play out. We were tight, loud and rocked. It was great fun. I stayed for a year more, then left.
A short time had passed and I found myself wanting to play in a band again. I picked up a community rag and read that a heavy metal band from Smyrna was looking to audition bass players. I contacted them, set a date, packed my gear and jammed with them for awhile. I did not get a call back. Still looking, in 1982, a friend referred me to a guy who needed a bass player. We got together and started to practice. He was a studied guitar player and did cover songs - radio songs of the day. After a short while we started to play out. We played at a couple of church functions and house parties. The house parties were always fun gigs. I don't remember the name of his band, how about "That Guy's Band".
In 1983, I started to jam again with the lead guitar player from Liquid Rainbow. He called his new band Critical Mass and we collaborated energetically on his new songs. I probably learned four or five of his songs, recording two with the Liquid Rainbow drummer. We jammed together for some time, but I never played out in this band. Over time, I started to loss my focus in music, eventually, I decided to stop playing all together and did.
I was not terribly active with music from around 1985 to 1990.
From 1991 to the present, I created musical compositions on the keyboards, synthesizers and sequencers.
I am now also playing guitar again after some twenty five years and I'm loving it.
