In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight Enjoy your dreaming 'cause the hunter's scheming to win your head tonight Attention all creatures, this lion is to be left alone I used to be kind of the jungle, but now I'm dethroned Behind these teeth lives an overgrown pussycat For all beasts really want love which is why that I didn't hesitate when I answered your mating call Now I find you just wanted my head upon your wall When I chase my dinner they know what I'm after at least Whereas you lured me promising love - now just who's the beast? [Chorus:] Well the hunter won't hurt me anymore Cause this lion's gonna learn how to roar Mean ol' hunter won't hurt me anymore Cause this lion's gonna learn how to ROARRR What do you want from me? My skin, my tooth? Well here, take my heart, my soul, my youth For no extra charge, here's my dreams and my pain You take away all of me when you go after my mane I know now what you want and I find it a shame You're doing this only for the thrill of the chase and the game When I'm looking for love, I don't do it to be stuffed To me this is a poor sport - and I've had enough [Chorus repeats] How much does it take for you to come to the conclusion You're not welcome in this jungle, you're just an intrusion That you can't comprehend should surprise no one Being that you do all of your thinking with your gun If survival of the fittest's your game, I'll play by your rules I wasn't king for being pretty, I too can be quite cruel For you forget I have eight more lives, so I'll end up the winner SInce you'll have no lives left - when I invite you for dinner [Chorus repeats] Come here, Mr Hunter, you think you're so brave Put your head in this lion's mouth and see what happens next Being double crossed makes me hungry You promised love and delivered war You wore out your welcome - now hear me ROARR! |
Commentary
Well, unless you're just clicking on random songs, you know by now that this is the final piece of the "I Was a Twenty Something Victim or FrankenStein's Go-Go Boy Chase" series. This was originally Part Two but i eventually made this the conclusion since all the other pieces are very dark and introspective where this one is very anthemic and empowering to sing - with the roaring lion being almost like primal scream therapy. A declaration of "Victim No More". I also like how the modified order of the individual songs progress starting with complete self-blame to metaphors of rape, AIDS/HIV, and then an awakening at the end where now the narrator is taking his life back. |
