the FIX!!!

This method is to fix your EXISTING PageBuilder "custom backgrounds" -- and show you how to add your own background to a new page.

(did you notice the slide in? It fixes your Transitions, too!)

~updated 7/16/04 WITH Corrections for multiple pages on one site, near the bottom~
NEW FAQ's added at the bottom.

ALSO... on the FAQ page -- (or Click here.)

"The FIX, In a NUTSHELL"

HERE WE GO -- :-)

OK... so you took the 2.6.1 up-grade. :-) Things DO seem better BUT --

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL YOUR BEAUTIFUL (non-page-builder) BACKGROUNDS on your WebTV Page Builder pages???  :-(

(Hmmm.... THIS Page Builder page has a customized background and you CAN see it with your 2.6.1 up-grade!!! But HOW???

Don't panic.    Those "special backs" are still there.   :-)

WebTV'ers with the 2.6.1 can't see them, but everyone else CAN.

What?   YOU want to see them too? AND you want your fellow 2.6.1 'ers to be able to see them?

OK, OK... I just can't stand to see grown men and women cry! lol

VERY SIMPLE ~ HERE'S HOW (Just 2 steps)

Warning...do NOT Un-Publish page while adding theFIX or editing! Doing this will change your page address.

€ Go to your Page Builder Index
€ Click on the page you want to "fix"
€ Click "Change Public Listing"
€ Right after your Title -- type

</title><noscript>€ UN-CHECK BOX THAT SAYS "Show title on page" !!!
€ Click DONE

NOW ---

€ Click "Change Page"
€ Click "Add an item"
€ Chose "Text"
€ In the BIG box, type in -- </noscript></head>
€ Followed by your Body Tags --
<body background="URL" text="color?"> (and any "link" colors and/or "transition" codes)
€ Click "Move up" until it is Item 1 !!!
€ Click DONE
€ Publish (on left)
€ Click "Done" on congrat's page.

(Don't forget to remove the original body tags! You should only have ONE set per page.)

Congratulations! That's all there is to it.

*on the congrat's page, your title (at the top) will include the code, BUT it won't be part of the URL on that page. (if you've followed the directions. :-)

STILL Confused??? Check out this page -- some VERY Simple options!!!

* For solid color backs -- just replace body background="URL" with body bgcolor="?"

** You might want to place a note on your pages that PC users need to have their JavaScript enabled, if your pages are for webtv AND Pc's.

There -- We can all smile again...'til the next Up-grade. lol

UPDATE***8/28/01- PLEASE READ!!!

IF you have MORE than one page on a site, and you are using "Page Break" --

€ Click on "Add an item"
€ Click "Text"
€ In Big box type --

</noscript>
€ Followed by your Body Codes --
<body background="URL" text="color?"> (and any "link" colors and/or "transition" codes)
€ Move This text item up, to immediately after the pagebreak.
€ Click DONE and then Publish.

To create a NEW page

When creating a NEW page in PageBuilder, YOU MUST COMPLETE (or at least start) AND PUBLISH FIRST and THEN go back and use this method. If you don't Publish your page, to establish the Title BEFORE using "theFIX", the noscript code will become part of your URL. (ps. UN-check box that says "show title on page".)

just one other note--

I suppose that we will ALL have 2.6.1 sooner or later --

Meanwhile (and I hate to tell ya this...)
Even if YOU don't have the 2.6.1 yet... all the folks who DO are not seeing your backs NOW, if you haven't added a "fix".

Looks like we ALL have some "fixing" to do. (including me! :-)
