Downing-Ace family
My grandfather Lines was born August 8,1883 in Foxburg, Clarion Co. to Robert Hayes and Sarah Ann Ace Downing. He died very young in January 14, 1919,and is laid to rest in Foxburg Cemetery. He had a sister Mary born about 1859, a brother William 1862, Isabelle 1863, Saul 1868, Emma 1870, Robert born 1874, Alexander born 1879 and Margaret born 1881. |

Robert Hayes Downing served in the Civil War in the 76th Pa. Zoauves, Co. G. from Aug. 27, 1863 to June 23, 1865, when he was discharged. He was wounded at Deep Bottom, Chaffin's Farm Va. and suffered a gunshot wound of the leg and severe blood lose. He was wounded on Sept. 29, 1864 and spent the rest of his service time in the hospital. He died Feb. 24, 1898 and was laid to rest in Foxburg Cemetery, Clarion Co. He left our family quite a legacy. |

William is the son of William George, born 1765 and died 1847 and Catherine Gillnitz, born 1769 in Lebanon, Pa. and died in Northampton County, Pa. William is the son of George Oest (Ost) born abt. 1720 and died 1777 and Anna Margaretha Mey born Sept. 29, 1718 in Germany and died Nov 27, 1804, after she married Peter Sean (Suhn) for 28 years. |

My Mother was born in Parker, Armstrong County and lived there until the age of 12 years. The family moved to McKeesport, Pa. where my Grandmother worked at the Baltimore and Ohio Station selling newspapers. She attended McKeesport High and met my Father there.
No one can wipe away those pleasent memories of a Mother and our family still miss her touch and smile today. She left us May 29,1981. |

Joseph was the youngest child of Lines and Margaret McCoy Downing. Uncle Joe was born July 7, 1917 in Foxburg, Clarion Co. Pa. and died April 13, 1987 in San Francisco, Ca. Tony was the eldest child of Elizabeth and Joseph. Elizabeth died young and Uncle Joe married her cousin Mary Santora who was a widow. He also had Lynes and Valerie born in Pa. before they moved to California.

Gebhardt and Deutsch family
Catherine Deutsch was born in Ludweiler, Germany on December 30 1843 and married Gottlieb Wilhelm Gebhardt on January 1864 in Ludweiler. They had Wilhelm, my grandfather in 1866 and Emile, in May 1875, Paul April 1883, Augusta 1877, all born in Germany. Two children Ernst and Herman also died before they immigrated from Bremen in November 29, 1881. They had Philip born April 1884 and Sophie born 1886 in Sutersville, Pa. here they made their new home. Gottlieb Wilhelm worked in the coal mines. |

Deutsch family in Pennsylvania
Luise Bachelier Deutsch and Paul Deutsch traveled from New York City after they arrived in America to Sutersville, Pa. in 1871 to be close to other Ludweiler friends and relatives. Paul married Margaret Reinhard, daughter of Paul and Margaret Reinhard. Peter and Magdalena Glas Deutsch arrived in 1872 with children. Peter was the eldest son of Luise born October 18,1837. His wife born April 14, 1839 in Ludweiler. |

| My great grandmother Sarah Ann Ace was born 1841 in Paint Twp. Clarion County, Pa. Her Mother was Sarah Ann Hetrick born about 1810 . I was given this picture by Leanne Morris a cousin in the Ace family and hope this may be my great great grandmother. The child Sarah is holding is her daughter Mary Downing, born in 1859 in Venango Co. She is the child of Robert Downing, my gr. grandfather. |

Sarah Anna Hetrick is the daughter of John Hetrick born Dec. 4, 1770 and died 1820 in Bucks Co. Pa., the son of John Peter, born 1723 and died 1814, and Catherine Hetrick born 1726. Her Mother was Catherine Benner born Oct. 20, 1775 in Bucks Co. Pa. to John and Maria Magdalena Benner, found in Tohickon Ch. records . Sarah Ann came to Clarion County area about 1840 with Catherine and Hannah. William was living in Venango County with their sons, Joseph and William. Sarah died before May 1867 in Callensburg. At that time William took charge of Jacob and George who were still living at home. |
