The Confederate Monument in Monroe, Louisiana is located in the Old City Cemetery, 900 DeSiard Street. It shows a vigilant Confederate soldier still on the look out for Yankees invading the Southland. Monroe is located west of Vicksburg, Mississippi and saw considerable military activity in the War for Southern Indpendence. Gray's 28th Louisana Infantry was raised in Monroe during the war.
