Confederate Soldier Statue, Anderson, Texas (Picture and Caption From the Navasota Examiner, 2 May 2001)

The Grimes County Greys Camp No. 924, Sons of Confederate Veterans raised the funds to have this magnificent life-size bronze statue of a typical Confederate infantryman created by sculptor J. Payne Lara. The Statue was placed in a newly created Confederate Memorial Plaza in Anderson, Texas, which was dedicated 28 April 2001. Later in 2001 the camp plans to break ground for a Confederate Museum at the plaza. If you would like to honour the memory of a Confederate soldier or civil servant, paver stones for the memorial plaza are available for purchase from the camp for a $100 donation to the project. For more information write the Grimes County Greys Camp No. 924, Sons of Confederate Veterans, P.O. Box 166, Anderson, Texas 77830.
