During the later years, as a British Colony, the bahamas were governed by the Duke of Windsor - a small position for the man who chose a US Wife over being:

the King of England!

When the Bahamas were granted independence, the Duke and Dutchess left. The Jo Henry was at the dock in Nasseau on the day of their departure. Not a glorious send-off - just a few friends and well-wishers to see them off on a small Passenger / Freighter On the dock, the Dutchess has a small bouquet of flowers. Not much evidence of royalty here. A small audience, including some of Jo Henry's crew, who paused in their task, at left.

As their boat left the dock for Canada, carrying, after all, a man and his wife - But a man, who as Prince of Wale, could have been the King of the Royal BrItish Empire.
