Short Cuts

Little about Brookfield

Brookfield is a small county town located in the southeastern corner of Madison County. Brookfield has a small population, which leads to a small crime rate, which makes it nice. The wost thing is all the dogs, one starts to bark then they all do. Brookfields population is around 2,600. Up 200 from 1990. In Brookfield every person could own probably 1000+ trees.(per person). In Brookfield we have only 1 dinner, and 1 store with 1 gas pump.

Brookfield has many horse trails which can be used year round. The trails are good for mountain biking (thats what I like most about the trails). They are challenging but not to hard to ride. All of the trails are in the state lands. A few times a year people from a horse trail riding club come and ride the trails for the weekend. Brookfield is the site of the Madison County Fair. In Broofield it is safe to take walks at night. The park is big for the size of the town, its about 6.5 acres, and is in the middle of town.

About the fair: The Madison County is held at the fairgrounds in Brookfield. Its held one a year usually mid to late summer, and lasts for about 3 or 4 days. Its main attraction is the demolition derby and rollover contest. On average about 75-100 cars are in the derby, and about 3 or 4 cars in the rollover, with the rollover you get attempts to roll your car. The most cars in the demo that I know of was 185 (Fall 2003(WheelDays)). But eveybody has fun at the derby and rollover. $5 gets you into the grandstands derby and the rollover, and $10 or $15 for a pit pass.
