Photos of Milwaukee's Cathedral "renovated" into Opera House and the Roman Catholic Protest follows this introduction

This website exhibits background to the current dilemma of Roman Catholicism with heterodox (heretical) elements inside the Church. This is an attempt to explain the "context" of how renovation of Churches leads to the "renovation" of liturgy to further "renovate" Roman Catholics. The "character" and integrity of Archbishop Weakland who reckovated Milwaukee is exposed here:

THAT WEAKLAND SETTLEMENT
From the Editorial Board/Journal Sentinel
Last Updated: July 23, 2002
It's hardly surprising that authorities were unable to find anything illegal in the Milwaukee Catholic Archdiocese's 1998 PAYOFF to Paul Marcoux, who has accused former Archbishop Rembert Weakland of sexual ABUSE. Those who donate to the Catholic Church - or any denomination - usually do so without strings attached, and so religious authorities have the right to use the money as they deem fit - even to buy the silence of accusers.
But Harry John must be spinning in his grave. Were the conservative founder of the DeRance Foundation - what was once the world's largest Catholic charity - still alive, he would undoubtedly be outraged to see where some of his money has been so poorly spent.
Investigators discovered that the bulk of the $450,000 to buy Marcoux's silence came from funds the archdiocese received from the sale of a building donated by the
DeRance Foundation in 1992. The John family decided in 1994 that none of its funds should be used to pay for sexual abuse settlements, but since that didn't cover the earlier donation of the building, there was nothing illegal about using money from the proceeds to pay off Marcoux.
But while authorities have found nothing illegal about the payoff, the incident does suggest that the archdiocese might at least want to look at its procedures for handling such payments. And there's no better time than the present, with a new archbishop due to be installed at the end of next month.
Only Weakland, Auxiliary Bishop Richard Sklba and financial officer Wayne Schneider signed off on the payment. They undoubtedly thought they had good reasons for doing so. But had more people been involved in the process, they might have provided better insights and come to different conclusions. Or they might have come to the same conclusions.
But at the very least, moving now to involve more people would give the archdiocese some credibility at a time when that commodity is in precious short supply in the eyes of much of the public. It's something incoming Archbishop Timothy Dolan and other church authorities might at least want to think about.

It is indicative to note Cardinal Jorge Medina's (Prefect of Congregation of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments) instructions to remand,...revise,...and respond specifically to the particulars of Fr Vosko's design for the Milwaukee St. John the Evangelist Cathedral.

This instruction was rejected and ignored by Archbishop Weakland of Milwaukee, as he grappled with "his enemies...and those small groups who cannot accept the spirit of Vatican II". This was a pathetic example of his Clintonesque personality.

A "most suitable" excerpt from Cardinal Medina's instruction of June 2001 is:

"...AS A FURTHER POINT, IT WOULD SEEM TO THIS CONGREGATION THAT THE ANCIENT AND VENERABLE HIGH ALTAR TOGETHER WITH ITS BALDACCHINO SHOULD BE RETAINED, GIVEN ALSO THAT IT IS A MOST SUITABLE LOCATION FOR THE RESERVATION OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT."

'NOT UNRELATED TO THE FOREGOING, ARE REGRETTABLE INSTANCES OF STATEMENTS IN THE FUND RAISING PAMPHLET ENTITLED, "THE CATHEDRAL PROJECT" WHICH ARE INACCURATE IN ASSERTING THAT SEVERAL OF THE CHANGES HAVE BEEN REQUIRED BY THE LITURGICAL LAW (cf. pp. 16, 20-21)."
Verification at http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/jul01/cathsid03070201a.asp?format=print

Cardinal Medina's instruction points to "regrettable instances of" inaccurate statements that are actually of 30 years duration in this nation. Bishops, priests and nuns have consistantly stated these inaccurate statements to each other and parishioners.

Archbishop Weakland's answer can be seen immediately following this text.

Since at least 1971, (Opera Artis signed by Paul VI) the Papacy has been warning the bishops of this nation that distortions and fabrications of Vatican II were the cause of "unwarranted changes in places of worship."

The man and woman in the pew were not told of these warnings. Catholic and secular media denied us this information.

Archbishop Weakland's unusual rejection of a remand, revise, and respond instruction is an open rebellion to the Pope's Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. This is currently "in discussion" at the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. The Supreme Tribunal is comprised of bishops and cardinals.

Current "best guess" estimates expect a decison on this matter post the official retirement of Archbishop Weakland, which is under 50 days and counting.

UPDATE: Weakland is long gone but the Vatican blinked. Weakland led the procession installing Archbishop Dolan.

St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee Wisconsin "renovated" 2/8/02 prior to Vespers on Friday. A CRUEL HOAX. Contributed by Richard S. Vosko's "voskospeak".

"The TOMB-SHAPED baptismal pool signifies the journey from death to new life" states the brochure from the diocese of Milwaukee: "Theological and Liturgical Reflections."

However, this deed of ommission and commission can be identified in "Ugly As Sin" by Michael S. Rose, pg 106.

"Our pilgrim wonders why the baptismal font keeps changing, not only in placement but also in size and shape. Beginning sometime in the 1980's, liturgists moved to "return" to Baptism by full immersion, even though the CATHOLIC CHURCH NEVER UNIVERSALLY ADOPTED SUCH A PRACTICE, EITHER IN THE ANCIENT PAST OR IN THE PRESENT. Even when John was baptizing in the Jordon, tradition holds that he poured water over the penitent's head rather than plunging him under. Likewise, THE BAPTISMAL FONT IS DEPICTED IN EARLY CHRISTIAN ART AS A SHALLOW BASIN IN WHICH THE BAPTIZED STOOD WITH FEET IMMERSED, WHILE WATER WAS POURED ON HIM FROM A VASE OR LARGE SHELL HELD BY A PRIEST.
Nevertheless, modern church designers and renovators produced a prototype vessel that would accommodate full-immersion Baptism, popularized by Baptist Protestants, who deny the validity of infant Baptism." (Ugly as Sin by Michael S. Rose)

NOTE: Dr. Richard S. Vosko stated on April 3, 2001 in Toledo Ohio: "In the Christian Church we're going to baptize the 'illuminati', those who are illumined with the word of God." (pg 12, para 78 of transcript to lecture at Corpus Christi Univ Church, home of the labyrinth serving as sanctuary. The transcript was produced to deliver evidence to the Vatican of Richard Vosko's 'New Age" credentials.)

Fr. Carl Last, Rector of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee Wisconsin

Introductions were not necessary. The famous Fr. Carl Last is well known. Father was making preparations for Vespers this Friday evening of 2/8/02.
Programing error in camera date/year related to long train trip with little sleep.

St. John the Evangelist "renovated" 2/8/02

UFO landing site with table attached and cathedra three steps down, 8 feet across floor then two steps up. The Eucharistic Chapel is to the left and behind the columns in the background. Note the cathedra (bishops chair) faces only some of the parishioners.

Eucharistic Chapel with tabernacle 2/8/02-2:59PM

Perhaps this room is 15 feet by 20 feet as viewed from left side of the cathedral.

The Vatican's remand instruction stated: "Furthermore, it has been determned that this chapel, as a result of its modest dimensions (estimated at 15 ft. x 20 ft, i.e., approximately 28 sq. m.), does not satisfy the requirement that the chapel be 'ad privatam fidelium adorationem et precationem idoneo' (Institutio Generalis Missalis Romani, 2000, no. 315) since it would restrict to so few the number of the faithful who might actually take advantage of opportunites for private prayer before the Blessed Sacrament."

The former sanctuary (presbyterium) now contains the ambo (pulpit), orchestra, and choir. The tabernacle is shunted aside in the Eucharistic Chapel 2/8/02

Ambo (pulpit "renovated" to lecturn), orchestra and choir area are in the former sanctuary. A current sanctuary or presbyterium could not be defined at this time related to ambo, priests, and ministers located in numerous locations.

General Instruction Roman Missal #295 and Built of Living Stones, Art, Architecture and Worship #54 state: "The sanctuary is the place where the altar stands, the word of God is proclaimed, and the priest, deacon and other ministers exercise their offices. It should clearly be marked off from the body of the church either by being somewhat elevated or by its distinctive design and appointments. It should be large enough to allow for the proper celebration of the Eucharist which should be easily seen."

The Daily Mass Chapel and Reconciliation area is to the left of the Eucharistic Chapel. It can be accessed by walking up steps and through the choir/orchestra space or by use of a hallway between the Eucharistic Chapel and the Daily Mass Chapel.

St. John the Evangelist "renovated"

Gnostic presentation of Christ crucified suspended over altar, which is fixed to UFO landing site. The ambo (looks like marble lecturn) is 30 feet beyond UFO landing site. A massive organ is 30 feet beyond ambo (pulpit) in former presbyterium. The sanctuary (presbyterium) could not be located at this time related to its functional parts are situated in various locations.

A very curious symbolism on 2/8/02 at 3:01PM prior to Friday night Vespers.

$500,000 and climbing. The "art crowd" loved this.
Why not! It's big bucks for cheap theatre. And besides who is going to seek the Divine meaning to Christ's sacrifice with this representation? Also it is "gender neutral." Agnostics=1 Catholics=0. This formless presentation reminds one of pagan deities represented in Aztec and Egyptian archeological excavations.

On 4/3/01 the liturgical design consultant for this cathedral, Fr Richard Vosko, stated at his lecture in Toledo Ohio (Corpus Christi University Church) that "the cross is a totem." This representation on a pole (this is not a cross) may be from the "mind of Vosko."

Jorge A. Cardinal Medina Estevez of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments stated to Abp. Weakland in the letter dated June 28, 2001:

"The first serious obstacle to approving the planned renovation of the Cathedral is the incongruity of the proposed floor plan with the architectural structure of the church,..."

"The proposed relocation of the tabernacle does not offer to the people of God a placement which is truly conspicuous."
Cardinal Medina

"There are regrettable instances of statements in the fund raising pamphlet entitled The Cathedral Project which are inaccurate in asserting that several of the changes have been required by the liturgical law."
Cardinal Medina

Prefect for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments told Abp Weakland:

"The ancient and venerable high altar together with its baldacchino should be retained, given also that it is a most suitable location for the reservation of the Most Blessed Sacrament."
Cardinal Medina

Dr. Richard Vosko's multi-purpose agenda was a sweet treat for Archbishop Weakland of Milwaukee.

NOTE another document not emphasized in Milwaukee, but pushed here in Rochester while disregarding the following : ..."conformity to the directives..."

"The cathedral church should be a model for the other churches of the diocese in its conformity to the directives laid down in liturgical documents and books with regard to the arrangement and adornment of churches." (No. 46)
Ceremonial of Bishops

Mother of the Church

The larger problem with this is the pedastal which "venerates" Weakland, rector Carl Last and other unnamed people in this bas relief.

A "humility free" Weakland pastors the flock; a woman in a nightgown, Rector Carl Last near the halo of St. John the Evangelist, and possibly the liturgical design consultant, Richard Vosko, near St. John's shoulder.

Fr. Carl Last, rector St. John the Evangelist Cathedral, is portrayed, as stated in cathedral brochure, next to halo of St. John. Other representations in this "bas relief" have not been publicly stated.

The presbyterium/sanctuary "reformed" into organ/choir/orchestra area

Distance of ambo on left to altar on right can be observed. Eucharistic Chapel is hidden as its placement and pillars obscure view.

The Vatican instruction stated: "The proposed configuration, in placing a new and visually imposing organ in what is the clear natural focal point of the Cathedral, that is, the apse, and in placing the altar, in effect, in the midst of the central nave, fails adequately to respect the hierarchical structure of the Church of God that the Cathedral by its scheme is to reflect and likewise diminishes the necessary distinctiveness of the presbyterium with respect to the rest of the Cathedral."

Their lies are legion. This view was taken from the ambo-which is in the midst of the orchestra.

Archbishop Weakland claimed ad nauseum before, during and after this reckovation that an increase from 720 seating capacity to over 900 was needed and completed. Milwaukee Catholics counted this current arrangement. 670 maximum. 15" between chairs to nullify use of kneelers. Milwaukee Catholics report no one kneels at any time during daily or Sunday Mass since reckovation. Everyone knelt during Consecration before reckovation.
The newspapers reported 1,000 plus were seated at Dedication. This writer was inside cathedral during the Dedication. Only staff were standing. Media should have accomplished their own count. Casey Stengle would have called it "Amazin!"

Daily Mass Chapel

During daily Mass, chairs without kneelers are up against the left and right walls. They had been removed for Dedication purposes.

This lady reported that recent daily Mass liturgy was chaotic related to noise of opening and closing door and the priest did not know where to stand in trying to face the people.

Archbishop Weakland guarantees that all changes were in accordance with current liturgical norms.

Fox News Reports at 10PM on 12/4//01

"A Rochester group opposed to renovation plans is taking its opposition to the Vatican. Steve Jost who represents the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preservation Committee is headed to Rome with 5,000 opposition signatures in hand. He is meeting with an attorney to pursue an injunction that, in his words, would save the church's interior from being destroyed."

website comment: see the recent Preservation Committee's website [http://www.savesacredheart.com] for excellent photos of current Sacred Heart Cathedral sanctuary.

"We've seen the work of Fr. Vosko throughout the country. It looks like a skating rink when he gets done. They take away the sacred images. They move the tabernacle, and the marble altar becomes a card table. It looks rediculous and it's a waste of money. We should keep our Catholic schools open, and not wreck the Church."

As told to FOX News: "THE CATHOLIC DIOCESE SAYS'

"THE RENOVATIONS ARE NEEDED TO ACCOMMODATE THE NUMBER OF PARISHIONERS.'

"RENOVATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO START SOME TIME NEXT YEAR."

comment by this website: number of parishioners? What does that mean? Renovation next year, but no plans and no fund-raising campaign started?

They told everyone that the fundraising campaign would not start till the plans were made public supposedly in early 2002, with construction to start in 2003 as stated by Michelle Reichelmeyer [Renovation Core Committee co-chair] on 5/9/01: "We're going to come up with a plan first. We're going to plan. And then at that point the fund raising will begin."

The bouncing ball of modernist "voskospeak" continues. This insult to the parishioner's intelligence and the local press are their "modus operandi." (see Timeline of [http://www.dor.org/cathedral])

In response to his claim that his permission was required to record this lecture, Fr. Vosko was asked this question at St Stephens in Geneva on Oct 16, 2001.

"Is it true that you are going to be paid $200,000 for this scam?" Dr. Vosko declined to answer.

Fr. Vosko, in his well tailored suit, explains how Vatican II requires the altar table be more in the "midst of the people."

A participant in the lecture (10/16/01, Geneva N.Y.) pointed out that "Cadinal Medina disagreed with every aspect of your design in Milwaukee."

Fr. Vosko responded: "I have not received a letter from Cardinal Medina, and until I do..."

Written question read off index card by renovation "core committee" asks "How much money are you making (on this Sacred Heart project)?" [10/16/01 St. Stephens, Geneva NY, Diocese of Rochester NY]

Fr. Vosko's response was: "that is priviledged information."

A voice from the audience stated: "thank-you Father, you have just made up my mind about the Thanksgiving Appeal."

Tradition

Fr. Vosko does not recommend this art work. Use "great caution" was his advice.

Statue and side altar of Mary in Prayer

"what kind of story is behind this image (of Mary)?" asks Dr. Vosko. Fr. Vosko may need to return to the second grade or seminary because his knowlege of the promotion of prayer in Catholic life is central to his priestly duties.

This is a slide of a gas chamber with body on floor. Fr. Vosko recommends this art work to exemplify solidarity with the Jewish Community. (Jewish folks better watch their wallets)

(re: 5/9/01 Fr. Vosko's presentation at Nazareth Academy, Rochester NY)

"...and where would you put it? Well yesterday I spoke about the Reconcilaition Chapel and how your confessional boxes are really not adequate in terms of the way the Rite of Penance has been reformed....How about considering those four confessional boxes as places for new shrines. ...(the confessionals) are niches in the wall, you know, they are framed by the wooden doors that lead inside to the confessional boxes. So you do have space in the cathedral building, and these would become little side chapels." [Fr. Vosko, 5/9/01, Nazareth Academy, Rochester, New York]

It should be noted that Fr. Vosko requests removal of the side altar to the left of the sanctuary that contains a statue of "Mary in Prayer." The side altar statue of Mary looks like Our Lady of Knock, which was a message of the importance and innate sanctity of the family, but Patricia Saxe and Sister Chris Treichel of the Arts and Furnishings committee say that this statue of Mary does not have a name. It is appreciated that these two women have inventoried the art and furnishings to the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Very little of what they have found has been made public and may have been silenced due to the beauty and origins of our Cathedral history, and its art.

Father Vosko in stating his objections to "Mary in Prayer" stated: "What kind of story is behind this particular image of Mary?...Is it accessible?...And what can you learn from this particular image that tells you more about Mary, the Mother of God and Her Child Jesus?....Now these are sensitive topics...Someone gave money for this particular image...'

"The important thing to realize is that whenever we sacrifice our resources for the good of the Church, that sacrifice, automatically, is no longer something that belongs to us. The altar you gave some money for, doesn't belong to us. The statue you gave some money for, doesn't belong to us...'

"I read just the other day where a pastor always says that the money he has in his own private pocket does not belong to him. It belongs to God. He is just a steward over this money. And how we use our money then on this planet earth is a very important thing for us to appreciate. So these are some of the things we have to think about." [8:16PM, 5/9/01, Nazareth Auditorium, Rochester N.Y.]

"New Age" statuary

Fr. Vosko recommends this statuary depiction of St. Martin of Tours.

He states that the Sacred Heart confessionals are not currently the "norm" and could be removed while statuary like this could be inserted in their place to foster "peace and justice" themes.

However, the (Vatican) Office of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments (Cardinal Medina) had specific problems with the Fr. Vosko inspired renovation of the Milwaukee cathedral and one of these problems was that traditional confessionals were the "norm" and "confessions of the faithful are to be heard in confessionals."

Cardinal Medina pointed directly at this example of Fr. Vosko making it up as he goes along. Making it up as he goes along is one of Dr. Vosko's primary skills. Fr. Vosko wins awards for this primary skill.

Cardinal Medina's responsibilities to Jesus Christ and Mother Church require that "not on his watch" should the liturgy or the "House of God" for that liturgy be watered down or disfigured, which would endanger the people of God and the Body of Christ.

Ultimately, Cardinal Medina does not answer to the opinions of the powerful national "voskospeak" network, but to the Holy Father here and His Lord and Savior, therafter. This Cardinal is very cognizant of this reality.

The Sacred Heart Renovation Core Committee led by Barbara Kelley will be used to play "scapegoat" if they do not ask the liturgical design consultant hard questions and take the time to investigate the "norms."

Barbara Kelley is an excellent public relations expert for the Bausch and Lomb Corporation, which must have been the reasoning behind Fr. Mulligan's request that she be a leader of the diocese in liturgical and architectural decisions.

Ms. Kelly may need to review the implementations of the Delphi Technique as it has been practiced by Fr. Vosko. That would be a valuable endeavor to protect her reputation. DELPHI TECHNIQUE is explained and identified at: {http://community-1.webtv.net/mfb7}

The Communication Committee (Doug Mandalero, Public Relations expert for Rochester Gas and Electric and Mark Hare, Democrat and Chronicle columnist) is going to look silly and lazy if the Vatican has to point out like they have done in Milwaukee that the information to benefactors "are inaccurate in asserting that several of the changes have been required by the liturgical law."

It needs to be noted that Cardinal Medina is a world renowned intellect from South America, who, as a young priest, was very much involved in the councils of Vatican II, along with Cardinal Ratzinger and John Paul II, who was a bishop at the time.

It is an amazing arrogance, steeped in a willingness to revolt, for the "voskospeak" amateurs to question the Cardinal's credentials to fulfill the requirements of his Office.

We suspect the Holy Father would not approve of this depiction of St. Martin of Tours, or the destruction of our confessionals. Cursor and click to verify the following Vatican "remand and revise" instruction:

"3. According to the requirement of can. 964, (section) 3, and in light of the recent authentic interpretation of can. 964, (section) 2 (cf. Pontifical Council for the Interpretation of Legislative Texts, Responsum ad propositum dubium, approved by His Holiness, July 7, 1998, Communicationes 30 [1998] 27), except for a just reason to the contrary, the confessions of the faithful are to be heard in confessionals."

[http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/jul01/cathsid03070201a.asp?format=print] is a short, concise but very informative letter from Cardinal Medina that points to the controversial and expensive new design for the Sacred Heart Gothic Cathedral, as it is being hidden but hinted at inside the website: [www.dor.org/cathedral]. Fr. Vosko's radical ideas are the same in Milwaukee or Rochester, and these ideas are addressed by Cardinal Medina.

Every objection we have to the "no decisions have been made" plan of Fr. Vosko and company are clearly addressed in the letter Cardinal Jorge Medina wrote Archbishop Weakland.

In Italy, many Catholics receive Holy Communion
on the tongue.
"The law of praying is the law of believing." [lex orandi, lex credendi]

This is an example of respect for Tradition locked into Scripture. Reference the New Testament: John, chapter VI, verses 51-71. The humility of Jesus Christ to personify "God with us" in this sacramental gift, requires awe and respect.

The Holy Father is a force to counter a "new world disorder" that has shown signs of infiltration inside the Roman Catholic Church. Recent disfigurement of Catholic Domus Dei across this nation are clear evidence of the power and intent of this movement to confuse and disorient the stability of the laity.

What is the goal of "voskospeak?"

To prepare churches for a liturgy to be accomplished "in persona hominis" rather than "in persona Christi."

Not planned or foreseen by the Fathers of Vatican II, is the clear and present danger of the secularization of the Roman Catholic liturugy. The priest is to become the president of the assembly, and a new theology based on Marxist communal ideas is to replace the Roman Rite.
