Very little of the info on this page is the result of my own research. I came across some of it while researching another Miller family in the same area, but the bulk of it comes from online sources, emails from other researchers, and the book ''Darsts of Virginia''. I thought if I put this information online it would help other Miller researchers trying to sort out the Miller famlies of Montgomery and Pulaski Counties, VA. James and Margaret Wygal Miller lived in the Back Creek area of Montgomery (now Pulaski) County. My Miller family lived in the Peak Creek area, near Newbern. Both Daniel Miller, Sr of Peak Creek and James Miller, Sr of Back Creek had sons named Daniel. This was the name of my ggg-grandfather, son of Daniel Miller Sr, and my research into the family of James Miller was mainly in trying to determine which records referred to which Daniel Miller. The above mentioned ''Darsts of Virginia'' incorrectly states that Daniel Miller, son of James Miller, married Mary Francis in Montgomery Co, VA. Mary Francis was my ggg-grandmother, and she married Daniel Miller, Jr, son of Daniel Miller, Sr. According to the above mentioned book, both the Miller and Wygal families moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. James and Margaret Wygal Miller moved to Montgomery County, VA about 1773. Margaret would have only been about 16 at the time. Since their first son, Isaac, was born in 1781, it's possible James and Margaret were married after their families moved to Virginia, or perhaps they were not in Virginia as early as the book says. All of James and Margaret's children were born on the homestead known as Hazel Glen on Back Creek. Son William Miller inherited the homestead from his father and lived there until his death at age 96. Many family members are buried in the Miller Cemetery in Back Creek. The ones I know of are:
