Sublett Family of Montgomery County, Virginia

William Sublett (1779 - 1868) was the first Sublett to come to Montgomery County. In 1836 he patented land on Den Creek near Montgomery White Sulphur Springs. He was born in Charlotte County, Virginia and lived for a while in Bedford County before moving to Montgomery.

The Sublett family has been traced back to Sedan, France, and, as French Protestants, they became part of the Huguenot migration to Germany, then to England, and on to Virginia.
