In the name of God Amen I Abram Sublet Sr. of the County of Charlotte and Parish of Cornwall being of perfect mind and sound memory thanks to Almighty God for the same, knowing the uncertainty of human life and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make this my last will and testament and do declare all other wills and legacies made by me heretofore Nul, Void, and of non Effect. Imprim, I surender my immortal soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the dust from whence it was taken to be buried in a decent Christian manner after my decease at the direction of my hereafter Named Executors, and that my Funeral Expenses with all my other Lawful Debts may be discharged out of the profits of my Estate. Item I lend to my Dear and well beloved wife Elizabeth during her Natural life the land whereon I now live, all of my slaves, stock of every kind, household furniture and Plantation tools. Item I desire that at the marriage of my children that my Wife may assist the in housekeeping to such Necessaries as she may think proper or can best spare. Item I desire that my daughter Nancy may be Educated with the profits of my Estate. Item I desire at the death of my above mentioned wife that all my Estate personal and real with the land whereon Edward Ayers and William Sublet now lives be appraised and equally divided amongst my children (to wit, Martha, William, Abram, Sarah, Elizabeth, Jean and Nancy) to be held by them and their heirs forever. Item, if either of my married children should die before they come to take possession of their parts of the Estate I desire that it may be divided among their Children, and that if either of them should die without heir their part may be divided between the surviving children. Item, I nominate my wife Elizabeth with my Faithful and Trusty Friend Edward Ayers, William Sublet and Abram Sublet Jun. to be my Executors of this my last will and testament made this Thirteenth day of June one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty one as Witness my hand and seal.
