Yard "A" Jan 2000, during construction.
Sadly, cats in photo aren't around no more as of Aug 2002--- no more cat hair, yay!
---But darn, as of about January 2006, two other cat-monsters (who have marched on all of it)--- I'll try to get pics of these up later.
Jan 2000, Yard "A" : goes under cabinets in kitchen area...
When I first dreamed this up, I envisioned those cabinets might look like skyscapers someday... but harsh reality sets in everytime a derailment happens under those darn things... wasn't a good idea to have trains under those cabinets...
...(August 2006) I'm "thinking-up" possibilities of putting the layout ABOVE those cabinets...
...Far away (see those candy-canes) is the "original layout", not incorporated at time of this photo (compare this with next photo)...
...Southwest Corner, finally raised, and track and electrical connected Aug 2003, sort of an industrial distribution center, they are two N-TRAK End-Loop-Modules back-to-back...
...This was all that I had for many years (it's why my trains sat in boxes-- no room for them)...
...it took lots of "thinking" to decide how to attach it to the rest of the layout...
Out that window is Walter E. Hall Park.
../Yard "A" (May 2002), looking in the opposite direction.... note that my original layout is lower, not in use much, and burried with stuff...
...(August 2006) I'm "thinking-up" possibilities of putting the layout ABOVE those cabinets instead of underneath... derailments under those cabinets are always a nightmare...
Now the Original Layout has "appeared" as a busy little train town.
By the way, that red big brick building in the left foreground houses the power-pack for this section (it happens to be the "Power Plant" for this town).
Under the cabnets where Yard "A" meets with the Washer-dryer S-Curve.
(as of August 2006) I'm "thinking-up" possibilities of putting the layout ABOVE those cabinets instead of underneath, derailments are a nightmare...
West portion of the S-Curve, going under cabnets, into the tightest curve on the whole layout... tight curves are a big mistake, sometimes cause whole-train derailments--- right there, under those cabinets, and total headache to fish out all the railcars ! (30 or more cars per train)
...(as of August 2006) I'm "thinking-up" possibilities of putting the layout ABOVE those cabinets instead of underneath...
