Half ounce CERAMIC slip sinker!

Great top 100 sites!

Ceramic Lead & Steel Sinkers: These slip sinkers work using a swivel to stop the line from being pulled through the center of the sinker. A baited hook can be placed below the sinker that will remain on the bottom . When a fish takes the bait the line slides freely through the sinker thus the fish feels no weight on the line. Ceramic sinkers are about 4 times the size of a lead sinker of the same weight. Although a lead sinker has a 4 to 1 higher density than ceramic in air its density in water jumps up to a whooping 10 to 1 in water creating a lead bottom dragging snag catcher. Ceramic on the other hand will glide off the bottom even with slow reeling giving less snags and great bait trolling near bottom! The rest of this web site will give you all the insight into sinker fishing comparisons and how ceramic out weights lead in better performance!

Anchors Aweigh! Yes a sinker is a anchor! Ceramic is probably one of the best materials for sinkers but has not been used in the past because lead was the cheap standard! Better technology in fishing products makes the demand for a higher quality lighter density sinkers a reality & ceramic is the best alternative by far!

This web site is going to show you WHY CERAMIC is far superior to lead for sinker application and like lead it is unaffected by the hands of TIME! You will be SURPRISED at the HUGE advantages that Ceramic has over lead and other heavy metals! As you read through this revealing information keep this important point in mind, LEAD is about five times as dense as CERAMIC in air but over 10 times as dense as CERAMIC in water! Hard to believe but true!

As you can SEE ceramic or the ( baked sand stone pyramid similar to baked ceramic ) is durable and last forever.

Ceramic is Non Toxic! Ceramic blends in with a river or lake bottom (being similar to a lucky stone) or sand mixture making ceramic natural to the environment!

The first section below explains why ceramic works better than lead for many fishing applications. Slip bobber & slow reeling or trolling are two of the best applications of ceramic sinkers! We will attempt to explain the advantages in a simple way and a scientific way. If you are satisfied with the simple way avoid the complex scientfic info below!

+++CERAMIC & LEAD applications made EASY! Lets say we have a 1 ounce ceramic sinker & a 1 ounce lead sinker, weighed in air. Leads density is 11 times as heavy as water, ceramic a little over 2 times as heavy as water. The lead sinker in water weighs 91% of its air weight. The ceramic sinker in water weighs 50% of its air weight. As you can see lead weighs about 41% more in water than a ceramic sinker of the same weight of the lead sinker in air!

+++ Now let us not confuse, that lead is 5 times as dense as ceramic! All this means is the size of the ceramic sinker is 5 times as large as a lead sinker of the same weight in air! This huge difference in size is magnified when reeling motion takes place. The ceramic sinker because of its light water weight will glide in the water like a surfer, approching the surface with increased motion. This is a great trolling effect with night crawlers, plastic baits or jig heads as sinkers The lead sinker or jig head will continue to drag the bottom unless extensive speed is attained. This is a big BIG PLUS for ceramic!

+++ Slip bobbers have a great relationship with ceramic sinkers. Small slip bobber when used with lead are limited as to the weight they can support without being pulled under. Since only a light weight lead sinker or jig can be used with a light weight slip bobber the casting distance in compromised. On the other hand a 41% heavier ceramic sinker can be used with the same slip bobber because a larger part of ceramic sinker weight is displaced by the water weight! So if you are limited by a 1/4 ounce lead air weight, switching to ceramic would allow you about a 1/3 ounce ceramic air weight, not quite double the weight of lead giving more weight for casting!

+++Trolling or reeling also has a HUGE advantage with ceramic sinkers. Since LEAD is 5 times as dense as ceramic in air but a WHOPPING 10 TIMES as dense as CERAMIC in water it will drag the bottom when reeling slowly. Slower reeling with ceramic allows for less snags and better jig or plastic presentations near the bottom! Slower reeling (cannot be done) with lead without MANY MANY bottom problems. Lead dragging over rocks also weakens the attached line!

+++Before we sum up the many reasons CERAMIC is the ultimate material for sinkers let us make a point! Remember a ceramic sinker the same air weight as lead is 5 times as large in size. This increase size along with the density factor gives a surfing effect to the ceramic sinker when reeling, even slowly. No bottom dragging period! Also the larger size glides over small rock cracks that would surely snag lead sinkers. Over all CERAMIC by far out weighs LEAD significatally in positive features!

+++ So let us sum up CERAMICS distinct advantages over LEAD! Ceramic is better with all bobbers! Ceramic creates a better array of all bait presentation motions, without as many bottom problems! Ceramic sinkers allow for ( increased weight ) for further casting with all bobbers without compromsing the bobbbers buoyancy! Ceramic sinkers are EXCELLENT all around fishing products! Fortunately for wildlife TOXIC LEAD similar to deadly ASBESTOS is becoming a thing of the PAST!

Some of these articles below deal with the buoyancy factor of lead alternatives and may take some thinking to comprehend. Once you understand the advantages of alternative lighter density CERAMIC sinkers you will NEVER use TOXIC lead or other heavy metals again!

Four sinkers below are ( left to right ) cork, ceramic, steel & lead!

Because these 4 sinkers are the same size but are different material they have different weights! Although the sinkers are all depicted in colors for simplicity ALL our ceramic sinker come in shades of WHITE to attract fish & blend in with rock bottoms! Information below created for the scientific angler to understand ( our own new technology ) in light density sinker applcations!

+++Lets say from left to right the composition of each sinker is cork, ceramic, steel & lead. The weights are also in order with the lightest being cork. Now you say how can cork be a sinker when it floats. A sinker has weight. well so does a float! The point I am trying to make depends whether each of th four items are weighed in air or in water.

+++ We will now assume that we are weighting these same size items in air. Their approximate weights are cork 1/16 ounce ,ceramic 1/2 ounce, steel 1 1/2 ounce and the heaviest lead at 2.0 ounce! Since they all have weight in air gravity pulls them to the ground. If we attached a ( same length string ) to each of the items and rotated them in a circle, we would find that the heavier the item the faster it must be spun to create the same effect of being parallel to the ground! This same effect takes place in water in several ways!

+++Cork having less density than water has a negative weight in water or a boyance and it will thus float! So the cork is no longer a sinker in water because it floats. The cork now takes on the title of bobber in the water! Ceramic, on the other hand, weights about 2 to 3 times as much as water depending on the DENSITY of the particular ceramic. We said the ceramic sinker weighs 1/2 ounce in air but since it would take about three volume amounts of water to replace the ceramic sinkers weight the sinker only looses about 1/3 of its weight in water. The ceramic sinker now only weights 3/3 - 1/3 or 2/3 of its weight in water.

+++The ceramic sinker now weights about 1/2 ounce multipled by 2/3 or 2/6 of a ounce which is about 1/3 ounce which is about 33% to 40% less than its original weight depending on the denisity of the ceramic used. Using the same reasoning you would find that lead weighing 11 times more than water will only loose 9% of its weight in water. Lead has a true disadvantage in water, when reeling or using a slip bobber.

+++This advantage of ceramic is ENOROMOUS. We will show you how this advantage can make Bottom fishing and SLIP bobber fishing more productive in several ways!

Ceramic being much lighter in the water than in the air gives a 2 fold advantage!

+++ LEAD sinkers weighing one ounce in the air weigh 9% less in the water, the reason being lead is 11 times as dense as water. CERAMIC on th other hand is only about 2 1/2 times as dense as water. A one ounce CERAMIC sinker in the air would only weigh less than 2/3 ounce in the water or about 35% less in the water! Reeling in a CERAMIC sinker of the same air weight as LEAD has many advantages.

+++ FIRST: Because a CERAMIC Sinker weighs ( about 35% less in the water ) that the same air weight of LEAD sinker in the water , the ceramic sinker will reel in or ( troll ) much easier and slower without dragging the bottom ( less snags )! The lighter ceramic sinker makes slower trolling or reeling possible off bottom! You will also have less sea weed on your sinker!

+++ SECOND: If you use light weight slip bobbers or slip bobbers in general a LEAD sinker tends to pull the bobber under without allowing you enough weight for long cast. CERAMIC sinkers will allow you ( about double the sinker air weight of lead ) with your slip bobber, giving much longer cast without pulling the slip bobber under!

+++EXAMPLE: Lets say your small slip bobber is capable of holding a ( 1/4 ounce air weight lead sinker , split shot or lead jig ) without being pulled under! You have only 1/4 ounce of weight for casting this light weight slip bobber system! This system limits the distance you can cast bcause of the high density lead! A ceramic sinker on the other hand will allow you over 1/3 ounce ( air weight ) ( almost double ) ceramic sinker for longer casting with the same light weight slip bobber!

+++THINK about this, there are many better applications of the less dense CERAMIC products over lead or other metals! Ceramics ( added BONUS ) gives the sound of a crafish when striking rocks or pebbles ( on the bottom ) getting the attention of predator fish like bass, walleye & catfish !

+++ CERAMIC Sinkers & the Bobber With A Brain ( automatic off bottom slip bobber system) together is a unbeatable combination & will change the way people fish all over the world in years to come!

I even caught a 33 inch musky with a leech while using a ceramic sinker from shore! The same year I also caught 5 fish over 26 inches within the same month ( all from shore ) while testing DU-CO ceramic sinkers for Big Ten Tackle. I used a 1/2 ounce ceramic white slip sinker in combination with the Bobber With A Brain with their two hook system, FANTASTIC!
