CC&P plus Quoted Text (smallifying)

To make it easy to follow, I have divided my CC&P plus Quoted Text site into 3 sections.

Section 1 - Copy and Paste

Section 2 - Cut and Paste

Section 3 - Quoted Text (smallifying)

Section 1

Copy and Paste a Whole Page

First move the cursor into the field of text to be copied. Then follow these steps:

The Steps:

1. Press Cmd + A. This will highlight the whole page of text.

2. Press Cmd + C. This will copy the highlighted page.

3. Go to your Mail List page. Click on "Write" in the left sidebar.

4. Type in the address and subject, then Arrow Down to the text portion of the letter.

5. Press Cmd + V (lightly tap the 'V' so you do not get repeated copies of your saved text.) This will paste your copied text into the body of your letter.

Copy and Paste Part of a Page

First move the cursor into the text field; then follow these steps:

The Steps:

1. Press the Find key. This will bring up the pop-up box.

2. Where you see the cursor flashing, type in the first couple of words of the portion of text you want to copy.

3. Press the Return key on your keyboard. You will see the words you typed in the pop-up box highlighted in your text.

NOTE: Be sure this is the area you wish to copy. If it is not, press Cmd + G and you will be taken down to the next set of words you typed in the Find box. When you press Cmd + B you will be taken back up to the last set of words typed in the Find box.

4. Press the Shift + Down Arrow keys to continue highlighting the portion of text you wish to copy.

Experiment with the Shift + Arrow keys. While holding the Shift key down, Arrow left, right, up or down to select some text or whole sentences or paragraphs.

5. Press Cmd + C to copy the highlighted text.

6. Go to your "Mail" page. Click on "Write" in the left sidebar. Move the cursor into the text section.

7. Press Cmd + V (lightly tap the 'V' so you do not get repeated copies of your saved text.) This will paste the copied text onto your page.

Section 2

Cut and Paste

"Cut" will only work on highlighted text if you are in a typing area such as "Write" in Mail or a newsgroup posting screen or a form text box. In other words, you must be able to type if you plan to use "Cut."

The Steps:

1. Press Find on your keyboard to bring up the pop-up box.

2. Type the first 2 or 3 words of the text you wish to cut in the box with the flashing cursor; then press Return on the keyboard.

3. You will notice that the words you typed in the "Find" box are highlighted.

NOTE: Be sure that the highlighted words are followed by the text to be cut. Often certain sets of words are repeated more than once in a document.

Pressing Cmd + G will highlight the next set of words you typed in the "Find" box. Continue down with Cmd + G until you reach the text you wish to cut. Pressing Cmd + B will take you back up to the previous set of words you highlighted.

4. Press the Shift and the Down Arrow to continue highlighting the amount of text you will be cutting.

Once again, experiment with the Shift + Arrow keys. Try holding the Shift key down, arrowing left, right, up, or down to select some text or whole sentences or paragraphs.

5. Press Cmd + X to cut the highlighted portion of the text. The cut portion is now stored in memory, ready to be pasted in the desired area.

6. Move the cursor to the place where the stored text is to be pasted. Press Cmd + V (lightly tap 'V' so as not to get repeated copies of the saved material.) The stored text reappears in the desired area.

ONE FINAL NOTE: Remember CC&P only copies the text not the underlying format that gives it its form. Most times, after pasting, you will have to edit the text (re-paragraph, etc.) to achieve the desired appearance.
