Quoted Text (smallifying)
Page 2

Most people find it tedious to Smallify text. I did, too, until I discovered Don Rogers' method. The Smallifying suddenly became very easy with only 3 steps to be taken. A few preliminaries, and then we're on our way!!

Section 3
Getting started:

Copy and Paste your text onto the Write page of your Email or onto a post for the newsgroup.

Now is the time to edit the page. Remove anything you don't want included, such as mail headers and addresses. Also, rearrange and separate paragraphs as needed.

Smallifying and HTML cannot be used together in your Email or post. The coding of the two procedures is not compatible.

However, you may use HTML in your Signature Box, as it does not interfere with the Smallifying process on your Email page.

The Process:

What we are going to do is type '>' symbols at the beginning of each line. We type one '>' to indent the standard amount and two '>>' to indent twice as much.

To prevent the automatic word wrap from moving our '>' symbols away from the beginning of each line, we press Return at the end of each line.

Here we go!!
The Three Steps to Smallify:

Place the cursor in front of the first letter of the first line and

1) Press 'Shift + >'.
(This will install your first '>')

2) Press 'Cmd + Right Arrow'.
(This will place the cursor at the end of the line.)

3) Press 'Return'.
(This will put your cursor at the beginning of the next line.)

Moving downward with Down Arrow, repeat 1, 2, 3 -- 1, 2, 3 till done.

And that's it!! Three easy steps.

Note: The smallifying effect won't be noticed till viewing the post or sent message.

How to Handle the Unforeseen:
There are a few things that may happen while you are following the above steps. Don't be upset, because they are normal occurrences.

1. A space appears between the cursor and the first letter of the line after Step #3 (the hard return.) Just ignore it.

2. A blank line appears.
This is probably where you wanted a paragraph when you edited the page. Move the cursor down with the "Down Arrow" to the start of the next line and continue with Step #1.

If you do not want a blank line there, move the cursor down with the "Down Arrow" to the start of the next line and press "Delete". This will bring up that line.

3. Words move to the next line when you install the '>'. Don't worry about it. Just continue with Step #2.

Should you make a mistake with any of the steps, go to the end of the line, press Return, and continue.

Practice the process until the steps become automatic. Send yourself Email with Smallified text until you feel confident to send it to others or post it.

Good luck! (and have fun)
