Scotland 1780

This story begins with the birth of my great great great great grandfather.His name to the best of my knowledge was (1)John Monachan. In or around 1800 his eyes fell upon a lovely young lass by the name of Elizabeth Burns, Lizzie to her friends. They fell in love and married in 1801.The result of this union was 2 straping young boys (2)James Monaghan born in 1801 and (2)Peter Monachan born in 1816.

The whole countryside of Ayr was abuzz. There's going to be a wedding ,they would say.Young James Monaghan has asked for the hand of Elizabeth McCafferty's daughter, Sarah..James and Sarah were wed November 5 1825. Even with James being a coal miner it was not enough to keep warm and they would often snuggle up to each other.during the cold winter nights and they soon found themselves with 10 children.
