PURE WATER AND THE HUMAN BODY

Water is the single most important component of the human body second to oxygen.

Water makes up 70 percent of our magnificently engineered bodies, and while we can survive for months without food, we can last only days without water.

If you are a woman, more than half of your body weight is water If you are a man, 2/3 of your body weight is water

Water is a vitally important nutrient; more neccesary than vitamins or any other thing we buy to "feel better".

Uses of Water in the Body

WATER is the major component of the bloodstream- the body's "waterway', ie.
...the Communication and Transportation system for the whole body: chemicals & their messengers, nutrients, nerves and even the "garbage" (toxins) depend on water for transport.

Water is essential in all aspects  of metabolism including certain chemical reactions.  and is the "glue" that attracts & keeps solid structures in the cell together.

Vital "hydroelectric energy" (voltage) is created by the osmotic flow of water through the cell membrane, and the functioning of enzymes & nerve receptors is dependent on an adequate supply of H2O.

Water acts.as a lubricant, insulator, and "shock absorber", and is the biggie in maintaining the vital balance in body temperature at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

There are No Substitutes for Water

Coffee, tea & colas are dehydrating & toxic; they act diuretically, removing water from the body, & depress the central nervous system. They "fool" the body, bypassing the thirst mechanism. The taste of artificial sweeteners also "tricks"the body & actually causes increased appetite and corresponding weight gain. Chlorine and other chemical contaminants in water may also cause dehydration and systemic damage.

DISEASE & DEHYDRATION

Dehydration is a big factor in most of the diseases afflicting humankind, ie:

Pain & Dehydration
Histamines increase & become active in dehydration, in addition to causing pain when they came across the pain sensing nerves. Chronic pains that cannot be traced to injury or infection often indicate thirst.

Heart Disease & Hypertension

To conserve water when there is not enough in the system, chemicals are released that constrict blood vessels, restrict and blood flow, but this may also cause heart constriction, hypertension & heart disease.

Allergies & Asthma
In a "drought" condition of the body, histamines become more active, and extra mucous is produced to protect airways from drying, further aggravating allergies, sinus headaches and ashma,

Digestive Problems:
Dehydration limits mucous available to protect the stomach & intestinal wall; acids in digestion reach these and damage them. In many cases of digestive problems, water alone (2-3 glasses at the time of pain, plus regular re-hydration) eliminated the problem.

Overweight

The sensation of thirst & hunger are generated simultaneously: we often mistake thirst for hunger, consuming uneccesary food that burdens body systems. 35-45 pound weight losses often ensued when water was substituted as the preferred beverage. .

Constipation
Patients eating a high-fiber diet (25 grams per day) as a therapy for constipation, increased fluid intake to 1.5 to 2 liters per day (6-8 cups) and significantly improved the condition.

Arthritis, Bursits, et.al.
The "itis"-es are conditions of inflammation, and are exacerbated by poor circulation, sluggish waste removal (ie., toxic conditions), and low availability of water in the body. 85 percent of the cartilage and all of the synovial fluid lubricating the the joints are water.

Studies have also shown correlations between dehydration, water intake and symptoms of:

Stress, Depression, Diabetes, A_I.D.S., Kidney stones, Bladder cancer, and Alzheimers.

You lose water each time you breathe, whether the air is hot, moist or cool and dry, and when you sweat or perspire-- even when you are sitting in a chair.
If you are drinking at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water every day, you're a rarity. Even worse, many folks are "hooked" on coffee, tea, and soda, which actually increase water losses. (Americans average  41 gallons of soda each per year!) Some experts, contend that for every such beverage, you should drink an additional glass of water.

Recommendations for Water

If you are on the standard American diet, water is even more important for you-- a minimum of 64 ounces of water every day. Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink - you'll likely never get this much down. Instead, keep filled water bottles at your desk, in your car, by your bed, and near your favorite chair as a reminder.
During hot weather or physical activity water losses can easily double or triple. so be conscientious about drinking more water during the summer and when you exercise.
Fruits and veggies are excellent hydrators on thier own-- eating more of these helps your health in many more ways as well. Seven a day is the USDA reccommended-- we should all try to go MORE than that, not less!

High-protein weight-loss diets add to dehydration. If you have congestive heart failure or kidney disease, or if you are taking diuretics, talk to your doctor before increasing your water intake.

"It's unwise to pay too much, but it's ,worse to pay too little.
When you pay too much, you lose a little money, that's all.
When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.

Or-- if you didn't buy what you needed at all-- there is a price for that too.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting  a lot-- it rarely happens.
If you must deal with the lowest bidder,
it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
