421st Field Artillery Group

While in Southern France, the 602nd was attached to the 421st. It consisted of 5 different military units combine into one group. I was contacted by Dale Stoddard who's Dad, Tech 5 Richard P. Stoddard was with the 421st. Dale found the following cartoon among his Dad's personnal belongings.

Caricature of the 421st F.A. Group... submitted by, Dale Stoddard

Notice the Japanese Americans. These were members of the 442nd Inf. Reg. who were in the area of Southern France in which the 601st and 602nd furnished fire support. Dale's Dad, T/5 Richard P. Stoddard is on the left, holding the keys. He would have been 26 or 27 years old.

Some members of the finance department at Camp Hale. My Dad is the tall guy on the back row. Because of his typing skills and the fact he was a mailman before the war, he was assigned clerk typist & Battalion mailman. He was in Battery "A" 601st F.A. Detail Section.
