Arles, August 1888 Oil on canvas 45 by 51 cm.
(F446, JH1553) Fondation Angladon,Avignon
I noticed there was something not quite right. The oil stain on the back did not match the painting on the front. It looked different.
Enhanced photograph of the back of a Van Gogh painting called "Railway Carriages".(F 446, JH 1553) It has been manipulated (Flipped horizontally and Color contrast adjusted). I believe I can see a locomotive engine in the upper-right of the painting.....I believe that this painting may have been scraped off and repainted. Do you see it?....squinting helps. There is no locomotive on the other side of this painting. Scroll down and the picture develops.
Darks made darker and lights made lighter
This is the most enhanced view.
Can you see the front of the train on the right side?
Can you see the smokestack? and the rear of the Locomotive where the engineer would be?
What do you think?
In this photo, I have taken a pen and traced over the lines....compare it to the photo above.
Locomotive and coal car that would have been used in Arles when Vincent was there.
