FLIGHTS

WHAT WE MUST ENDURE TO GET FROM "HERE TO THERE"!

Our Delta flight from Chicago's O'Hare to JFK had even a shorter connection because of NYC weather, but we were met at our gate and whisked to the connecting flight by the electic car. WHEW!!

Returning from Damascus on Air France, we had 3 seats because of a partially empty plane--a 767.
A baby in a swaying bed was hung from the ceiling 4 rows ahead; and another one, 2 rows behind us. Baby #1 slept most of the way. Baby #2 cried most of the way! I certainly didn't see what baby #2 had to cry about, as I would have loved to have been in its position being rocked to sleep!

HOTELS

Our Istanbul's Celyan Intercontinental was delightful. The lobby's grand staircase rivaled the one at the Dolmabache Palace. A sweeping circular, shiny brass, crystal staircase, with bluegreen steps. made one feel elegant; as you walked carefully down those glass steps!

Our room had a "view" through a floor to ceiling window that looked toward Taksim Square.
Our dinner at the hotel's Safrin dining room had great Turkish food, as well as, a great night view.

The Damascus Sheraton served Turkish coffee from a brazier in the lobby; and we had "fish and chips" while listening to a duo sing American pop songs in English in an English Pub atmosphere!

WEATHER

Perfect! Mid 70s, blue, blue skies, and calm seas. Only rained as we returned to Elkhart.
