West Virginia Music and History

A friend suggested I add some of our Cultural Heritage to my pages. A wonderful idea. Though I have lived in NORTHERN Virginia (not a separate State, as yet, haha) more years than in my native WEST VIRGINIA, my home is as this song so aptly puts it, Among The Hills!!

He sent the link to this site. To hear this song, click on the link below, or copy to your browser.

HOME AMONG THE HILLS
Words & Music by E. W. James, Jr.
Audio by West Virginia Wesleyan Choir
Conducted by Larry Parsons
There's a land of rolling mountains
Where the sky is blue above;
And though I may roam I hurry home
To the friendly hills I love.
Where the moonlit meadows ring with the call of whipporwills, Always you will find me in my home among the hills. And where the sun draws rainbows in the mist of waterfalls and mountain rills,
My heart will be always in the West Virginia Hills

General Description:

I have a large quantity of genealogical data
that I will attempt to share on these pages.
e-mail:rocketteone@hotmail.com
Principal Surnames are: <.BR>BAKER<.BR> CORBIN; CARPENTER (aka Zimmerman in some gene pools); GOLDMAN; WINGROVE; MOOSE(MUSGNUG); MORRIS;
FLOWERS;RAWSON
Some of the most recent data verified by living relatives. Other data from IGI; Census lists; DAR; GENWEB; Family Bibles, etc.

**Note on documentation: I have found errors in Census lists (my g gf listed as my gg gm's husband for instance) and questioned some of the IGI records. Familysearch.org is a very good place to start. They do have a DISCLAIMER and suggest we do our own documentation, I believe.
Family groupings and list of names is the way I choose to go. Remember, this is a work in progress!
