My SLATER connection

Descendants of John Thomas Benton SLATER

NOTE: Research on this SLATER family is new to me and has just started. The following does contain some "speculation", which is so marked. Am awaiting additional Ohio death certificates from the Ohio Department of Health and family info from Alice (SLATER) GREEN of Aurora, OH, Barbara (GREEN) HALL of in/near Houston, TX, and Blanche N. (GLAVIC) WERNER of Chesterfield, MO (see below).

1. John Thomas Benton SLATER (Sr.) was the son of ? & ? (per 1880 census; father born PA - mother born MD) - He was b abt 1846?/47? NOTE: John was a brick mason. Famiy lore is that John was a bricklayer and died while working in some sort of an oil tank in Cleveland. Lore is that oil was accidently released into the tank while he was working "in" the tank resulting in an explosion/fire and his death.

NOTE: all of the children of Arthur and Rose were believed to have been born in Ohio. See 1910 census above regarding son, Charles. Also, have the d/c's of daughter's Rose & Blanche and both indicate births in Ohio. It is unknown why the above 1920 census show the children as born in Maryland (must be in error)??
