North Georgia is a beautiful place to live. Mountains and rivers and friendly people make North Georgia a great place to visit. Thanks for stopping by.
First let me tell you a little bit . . .
I come from north Georgia and live in a small town named Resaca (pronounced re-sack-uh). The story goes that the reason the town is called Resaca is because a man ordered a mail order bride years ago and when she got off the train she was so ugly that he told the conductor, "Resack 'er boys and send 'er back."
Resaca is a small town between the famous Carpet Capitol of the South, Dalton, and historic Calhoun. During the Civil War battles were fought here on Sherman's march to the sea. Each year the reenactment of the Battle of Resaca is held on farmland where the battle occurred. The reenactment is May 17h, 18th, and 19th this year. For all you history buffs out there come join the fun.
Gordon County is also famous for being the Capitol of the Cherokee Indian Nation. Sequoyah, a famous Cherokee leader, lived in what is now Gordon County and created the first Indian alphabet and published the first Indian newspaper. Many Indians were prosperous and created a government similar to the white man. When white people became afraid that the Indians were becoming too uppity they forcibly removed them from their lands and many died on the Trail of Tears.
Gordon County is a slow paced little community with friendly folks who enjoy the mild climate and the beautiful scenery.
