The first lyricist-librettist-composer to graduate in all three categories from the prestigious BMI Songwriters Workshops conducted by Leland Hayward--producer of "South Pacific" "Gypsy" & "The Sound Of Music" Ron has written songs for Sesame Street. He is also co-founder and director of The Inter-Generational Hugga-Mugga-Jug-Band! He was musical accompanist, studied and sang with the legendary Singing Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, and composed English lyrics for many of his universally beloved deeply soul-stirring melodies, including "Return Again! (Return To The Home Of Your Soul!)" which has been sung and prayed and danced and recorded in Israel and all over the world. He was also musical minister of New York's Interfaith Fellowship, co-hosting weekly services with Swami Satchidananda, Reverend Jon Mundy and Rabbi Joseph Gelberman. Also known as: Raphoel-Simkha (his Hebrew name), Professor Take-A-Deeeeeep-Breath and Lucky Buckaroo--yeeeeee-hooooooo! Ronnie Kahn is an all-around entertainer: humorist, storyteller, multi-lingual singer, Elvis impersonator, and one-man band: piano, synthesizers, guitar, harmonica, kazoo, nose-flute, ocarina, conch, penny whistles, trumpet, tambourine & Native American drums... Has been performing for more than twenty years on stage, screen, tv & radio, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, churches, synagogues and ashrams. Performed at NY's Lincoln Center, and at Carnegie Hall with Israeli singer Ron Eliran and comedian Rodney Dangerfield. A Shakespearean actor, he played Hamlet, Richard II and Romeo in CCNY productions. Wrote the theme song and starred in the RKO Feature Film "Toys Are Not For Children" His goal in life is Peace Thru Music. His motto: "Fill Every Heart With Laughter And Song!" Born in Brooklyn NY, graduated CCNY and The New School For Social Research, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and Education.
