The Flags of the Confederate States of America

Unfurl those flags and let them float upon soft Southern breezes. They have harmed no one and they represent our Confederate ancestors, gallant and brave men that cherished liberty over a tyrannical centralized government. Long live their ideals and symbols.

The flags in the image are: (from top and going clockwise) The Army of Tennessee Confederate Battleflag; The Stars and Bars or First National; The Stainless Banner or Second National; The Bonnie Blue Flag; and The Third National Flag.

Our Camp Namesake - Major John Pelham

Born near Alexandria,
Alabama, John Pelham is perhaps Calhoun
County's most famous native son. He was praised by General Robert E. Lee for being brave and couragious in several battles. General Lee named him "the gallant Pelham". He was mortally wounded at Kelly's Ford, Virginia in 1863 and is buried in the Jacksonville City Cemetery.
