JENNY OCCHIATO GERSICK

Jenny and Albert (AL) Gersick lived in Pueblo all their lives, and all 3 of their children were born in Pueblo.Their oldest was Rita followed by Elaine and then Joe.Both Jennie and Al spent most of their lives working in the family business. There were many years where you would find at least four of the five Gersick family members working there.Jennie spent her years at Pueblo Pepsi running the Front office. While you would find Jennie running things in the front it was Al who was in charge once you passed beyond the front office.Al had one of the most important and high pressured positions in the family Pepsi business.Al headed all production at the Pueblo plant. As head of production Al oversaw the 2 bottling lines and one high speed canning line.In addition to meeting the needs of Pueblo Pepsi and its 15 branches Al had to see that production met the needs of outside companies like Safeway which had canning contracts with Pueblo Pepsi. His efforts were recognized many times with awards for quality from The PepsiCola Company.Pueblo was a muliple winner of Pepsi;s coveted Caleb Bradham award given yearly for Product Quality
Al was a tough but fair boss.Over the years hundreds of Pueblo's young men including all of Al's nephews spent their summers working for Al.For most it was their first job. Many did not make it through their first summer but the ones that did would come back every summer from high school through college. Many boys could not have gone to college if not for their summers working for Al.They will all tell you that those summers working for Al gave them much more than just the money they were paid. Many started the summer as boys but ended the summer as men.Al tought them a work ethic that they used throughout their life with many achieving success becouse of that work ethic.
