Mary Richmond Pollard's Family Pages

Hi There and Welcome to Mary's other Webpage

Well, I said this page will be an on-going project ... and will probably never be finished... and I didn't know how true that was when I originally wrote it. It is now a couple of years later, and I have taken a hiatus from it this Summer. Now, it is coming on to Winter so I will have time to update it with some of my later research.

Our family are our roots...the connection from the past through the present and on to the future. Genealogy has become my passion and discovering who I am is my goal...

This has tales of my family and that of my husband, Don's, the POLLARD and ABBOTT families of England, Massachusets, Maine,New York and Minnesota...and his mother's family, the CARLSENs and RASMUSSENs of Nibe, Aalborg, Denmark.

My paternal lines are RICHMOND and MORLEY of England, MORRISON and ERSKINE of Scotland. and their related families of REED, LEE, HARDESTY, CAIN, SMITH, LOWBER (LOPER) of the Netherlands, and FARABEE (FURBEE) (FURBY) of England.

My maternal lines include the CORNER, STINSON, and (Fitz)RANDOLPH families of England and ISLEY of Germany. Some of the way-back families are LOY (LAYE), HOLT(HOLD), S(C)HEIBLE, MAXSON, DAVIS (a very interesting family), and our French Connection, the BOBO (Beaubeaux) Family.
We have some German lines, one French, a couple of Scots, an Irish (but their roots are in Scotland), a couple of Dutch and a whoooole bunch of English Families. We have lines that fought on both sides of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars... a couple of Richmond's were incarcerated at the infamous Andersonville Prison. We had family that immigrated in the 1600 and 1700's.... even one that married into the Mayflower Families.

The most recent immigration I can find is that of the Morrison/Erskine Family that came to Pennsylvania in 1849. Some of our family were among the first to break ground as they opened the Western Lands from the Ohio Valley and into the Indian lands of Oklahoma and Minnesota. Our family were among the first to come. They were not "settlers," they didn't settle for anything...a lot of them just kept moving on to bigger and better things. Our family has seen many of the changes that have made this country. AND, we will be around for some of the greatest changes yet to come. Not my offspring, but yours will see the wonderful world we are building.

I hope you enjoy these pages and will check in often to see what has been added......

Check out all my pages....

  1. This page is the introduction...

  2. Don's Family...The Pollard, Carlsen, Abbott, Gripman, McMannus, Rasmussen and all the Danish Families.

  3. My Paternal line...Richmond, Morrison, Erskine, Reed, Cain, Farabee, White, Smith, Brady, Hardesty, Morley, Lee, Lowber, Sanders, Croasdale, Pardee, Meades, Lingan and Niewlant ... most lines go back to the early 1700's, some back into the early 1600's.

  4. My Maternal Line... Corner, Isley, Stinson, (Fitz)Randolph, Drake, James, Loy, Davis, Hart, Tilghman, Maxson, Holt, Magdelena, Thomas, Faust, Bonham, Molleson, Burdick, Brisley, Clarke, Sheible, Bobo, Sparks, Spencer, Berger, Brickhmann, Hubbard, Mosier, Kerrick, Cook, Carter, and Neydeck... again, some lines reach back to 1619.

  5. Page Five - The Begats - Added November 2000 in which I list some of our family lines....The Pollard, Carlsen, Rasmussen and Richmond, Morrison, Corner and Isley Families. Sure hope they make sense to you.

The more recent the family, the closer to the head of the list...conversely, the further back in the list, the longer ago... Some names changed over the years, like Laye became Lay which became Loy; or Furby > Furbee > Farabee. Spellings changed as did pronounciations...my favorite is granpa Eiselle which became Isley when they came from Wurtemburg in 1748.

I have also added my file to the World Connect project on Rootsweb, so if you want check the families you can do that at

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=mssarge

Or if you're just browsing on Rootsweb.com, you'll find it as   File 298429. My keyword is mssarge and the file consists of 1184 individuals, 451 Families. Names of all living persons have been stripped from the file, so if you find any, please let me know. AND if you have corrections, additions, or subtractions....let me know.

These pages are dedicated to my wonderful aunt, whom I love so much. But I send hugs to all who check in....

Blessed be.
