The Preterist Association of Corpus Christi and the South Texas area.
We welcome all men and women of the Christian Faith to join us in a study of Eschatology and Preterism. Preterism is a method of interpretation,meaning past fulfillment,and Eschatology is the science of last things.
According to Webster's Dictionary, " a Preterist is a theologian who believes that all the prophicies of the Bible were fulfilled by the end of the first century AD ".
Of course,"all" is a big word but when it comes to most prophicies about the future of the Church, all things have been fulfilled.
When trying to understand the things of the
Bible,it is important to determine the time
frame in which it takes place, either in the past or in the future.
Many people today read the Bible as if it is written to them personally and see these things as about to happen in their future.
This is a mistake that can lead to great error and misunderstanding . A case in point is the warnings of Jesus on the Mount
of Olives in Matthew 24. These same warnings are also recorded in the books of Mark 13 and Luke 21.
Many people interpret these books of the
Bible as prophecy yet unfulfilled and still
in our future of today..., and that is why we
hear so much wierd teaching about a
rapture, tribulation ,end of the world, etc.
As Preterists, we read the Bible in the context of the time in which it was written
and in light of the past history of today.
The warnings that Jesus gave to his Disciples on the Mount of Olives that day, was a prophecy of the soon coming events that was to occur in their life time and in their generation.
The destruction of Jerusalem and the Jewish state is one of the most amazing
prophecy ever made and came to pass in
the year 70 AD.
The history of that period of time is well recorded in the "Jewish Wars" by Josephus
and the early Church fathers.
The Preterists view is a view of the past fulfillment of these prophecies .
We welcome your investigation of these scriptures to determine for yourself the true
meaning of the words of Jesus. Was this
something that happened back then or is this going to happen in our future ?
