Spam Information
What is spam?
Spam is any unsolicited, unwelcome, unwanted, uncontrolable, unnamed, nuisance email that you receive in your private email account.
What can I do about it?
Report it! Always!
I hope you find this as informative as I did. Reporting does pay off. Click the banner "BEHIND ENEMY LINES".

KEEP IN MIND....do NOT reply to any unsolicited email or logon to their "to be removed" notation...just a ploy to find out if you are a "live" one and so the email from them will continue.
Ironically, the Internet is not only the con artist's favorite tool but also his worst enemy.
Four ways the Web can help you foil fraud:
KEEP INFORMED.
Read about new scams online, courtesy of the FTC
(www.ftc.gov).
The Council of Better Business Bureaus (www.bbb.org)
The Federal Consumer Information Center (www.pueblo.gsa.gov).
INVEST WISELY.
Before putting your money anywhere, pay a visit to Quatloos! (www.quatloos.com) for straight talk about financial fraud.
Visit the SEC's Internet Fraud site (www.sec.gov/consumer/cyberfr.htm) for helpful investment tips and information on avoiding pump-and-dump and other investment scams.
TRADE TIPS.
Savvy Net users help others avoid becoming victims. Check out Traderlist (www.traderlist.com), a forum about auction sellers.
The Motley Fool
(www.fool.com) encourages a common sense approach to investing online.
Learn about cons of all types-or submit your own warnings-at the e-zine
Scambusters.com
(www.scambusters.com).
HELP STOP CROOKS.
If you've been swindled online, file a complaint with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center (www.ifccfbi.gov), a joint project of the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center.
You can also file reports with the National Consumers League's National Fraud Information Center (www.fraud.org or 800-876-7060), which will alert the appropriate law enforcement agency.
For mail scams, contact the United States Postal Inspection Service
(www.usps.gov/websites/depart/inspect/welcome.htm).

Opening Post Headers
For those who don't know this, you can open the headers of a newsgroup post when sending it to yourself so that the headers are opened when you receive it.
While viewing the post, click on "send", then follow the steps to bounce an email ...
Here's what I do:
1) Click on "send" when I see a post I wish to "open."
2) Erase the "subject" line.
3) Click on "Remove sig" if you have one.
4) Move the cursor into the text area (where you can write a message) and click on "enter/return twice.
5) While holding down the "Alt" key, tap the "Z" key to get the § symbol. Release the alt key and press "enter/return" key once.
6) While holding down the "Cmd" key, tap the "A" key, then tap the "X" key.
7) move the cursor into the "subject" line (that you previously erased) and hold down the "Cmd" key and tap the "V" key.
8) Address the mail to yourself, and press "send." When you receive the mail the headers are opened.

And for those of you who are really interested in becoming "spam terrorists" as spammers call spam fighters, here's an excellent newsgroup run by SkyKing140 [Jim]:

Julian now has a new server and all of the SpamCop forums have been moved.
The good news is that we can now enter six of the SpamCop forums by going from Home to Community to Discuss and typing spamcop in the search bar. spamcop is the replacement group for local.spamcop.
Personally, I saved the results page and placed it on my SpamCop F-key. It works just fine.
See all ya hunters there! :-)
