We have a very good record on outbound mail and have the logs to prove it.

AOL has confessed to their problems delivering our mail. (I am also nowebtvmail@aol.com, using AOL7 I hate it!)

We did not change a thing regarding mail in 2.7.

Although you did not state which ISP and mail reader your computer friend has, many pc mail readers will take a webtv mail and make it an attachment.

So there are a few questions to ask yourself before blaming 2.7 :

1)Was the message a forward?

2)Is it in your sent folder and is it intact there?

3)Did your computer friend have an attachment?

4)What was the address you were trying to send (domain / isp name?)

5)Do all subsequent messages sent with or without html show up blank?

6)Did your computer friend get a black mail screen and did he try the lick and drag method to highlight any text that might have been there?

cheers,
Mike

I don't normally respond to rumors, but in light of the fact that this is more of a case of very bad information I'll see if I can shed some light on the topic.

There is a problem at AOL recently with accepting mail from MSN TV. We have been in contact with AOL and are working with them on it. It is not a situation where we no longer support mail to AOL, that would be ridiculous. There is a technical issue that is unintentional and both parties are working to make sure that mail systems are compatible. Hotmail accounts have been suggested as a "work around" while the issue is being addressed.

As far as AOL TV goes, I don't recommend any products, but the feedback I've seen from AOL TV customers would make anyone extremely cautious.

I just wrote an e mail to one of my AOL friends, but I sent it to myself and then FORWARDED it to his AOL address and it went right through. By using forward it fooled something, either AOL or MSN.????????????

Maybe a solution here.

I called my WebTV fixer and he said the 2.7 was responsible for the AOL problems.

When I said I could retrograde, he said try this code first. I did it and sent a test e-mail to an AOL subscriber and it went through.

If you try this code and it works, let us know.
Here it is:

1 Power OFF

2 Hit options button three times

3 enter this code 5532 and again 5532

Power on and then try an AOL number.

Hi There

The ABSOLUTE BEST WAY I KNOW To Send Pictures to Puter People is:

1.   First jot down the Email Address of the Person you want to Send it too on a Scrap Sheet of Paper

2. Now click on the Image URL so you are Looking Right at the thing -- For Example, say this was the Image that you wanted to Send

http://community.webtv.net/PoorBoyInc/CrystalBallFromHell/scrapbookFiles/importD32.gif

3. While looking right at the Image that you want to Send -- Hit GO TO
Button on KB (Top Row -- to the Far Right Side)

4. A Screen Pops up with http:// already inside the Text Box -- Behind that http:// you need to Type in DRIVER70.TV/wc/ (the wc MUST BE Lower Case), like this
http://DRIVER70.TV/wc/ << Like That

5. Now Click GO TO PAGE and you will be Whisked to Patricks (Driver 70) Work Center (wc) for Imaging AND Your Image will go right along with you

6. Upon Arrival there -- Click on WEB F/X Tab AND You and Your Image go
to Web F/X

7. Upon Arrival there, Scroll Down and Click on the Button about MAIL THIS TO SOMEONE

8. On the Next Page -- Fill in the Blanks of WHO It is FROM and WHO It is TO: And you can Even type in a Short Message and Than click the Button and Let Web F/X Email your Image For You :-)

CCP With AOL

Assuming your recipient is on a Windows machine [a PC, not a Macintosh], I believe this is the procedure to follow to get to a site via a URL you send:

1. Go to email and open the message from you

2. Position cursor at left end of URL

3. Hold down right mouse button and "drag"
across the URL to "highlight" it

4. When only the URL is highlighted, press
Ctrl-c to copy the URL into the copy buffer [hold down the Ctrl key and at the same time press the letter c ]

5. Go to AOL browser [the place from where you can go to web pages]

6. Position the cursor In the window where you would type the AOL "keyword."

7. Press Ctrl-v to insert the URL into the window

8. Press Return.

It's been a while since I've been on a PC, if there are mistakes in this, someone else please correct me... Thanks

Clickable Urls

AOL
Use this method to send AOL users a clickable url:

a href="http://www.westnet.com/~ssherman/">Click Here /a>
(be sure to add the <'s)

Notice the words _Click Here_.
When the users on the AOL system get that above code in their e-mail they will _only_ see _Click Here_.

To make "clickable links use this code:
a href="Put the URL of your link here">Click here! /a>
(be sure to add the <'s)

The only spaces in this are between the opening "a" and "href" AND between "Click" and "here".

Also, where I have "Click here", you can put any text you want and it will show up as a clickable link.

Be sure to enclose the code with html> and /html>. (be sure and add the <'s)

You can also use an image for your clickable link this way:

a href="Put the URL of your link here"> img src="Url of the image you want folks to click on">Click here! /a>
(be sure to add the <'s)

Again, spacing rules and html and /html apply as above.

1. Copy the forwarded message.
2. Paste to a Microsoft word document.
3. Click on edit.
4. Then replace.
5. Type the offending indention in the replace area.
