The village children that attend this school are descendants of the Manchu Minority ethnic group, whose job it was to guard the Tombs of Emporers and their family members of the Qing Dynasty 1644-1911
Inside the village during our walk
Notice the chickens getting their lunch and the dryed sticks will be used for fences to keep those chicken in or out and maybe to start the cooking fires.
A walk thru the village
Our group was treated to lunch at the home Li Xiang, who is the student supported by a Brookings school teacher and his 6th grade class.
Modern village kitchen
electricity for refrigerator, propane two burner stove top and a small old fashioned cooker that uses coal punks or sticks and paper completed the most important part of this kitchen...Li Xiang's mom and some village ladies turned out a feast.
