Francis was graduated by the Wilmington Business School on February 7, 1908. His diploma reads as follows:

This is to certify that Francis Buehler Diehl has completed the course of study in the commercial department of the school, and upon examination is found entitled to the highest honors of the institution. By reason of his attainments, ability and general character, he is cordially commended to the favorable consideration of the business public.

Employment: (1) cashier for the New Castle Trust Company, (2) telegrapher at Bear station, (3) bookkeeper for the Capell Hardware Company, (4) cost accountant for the Atlas Powder Company (formerly a division of the E. I. Du Pont De Nemours & Company; now AstraZeneca).

Residencies: (1) Bear, Delaware, (2) a street on the west side of Wilmington, (3) Delancey Street, Philadelphia, (4) 417 Geddes Street, Union Park Gardens, Wilmington, (5) 3 Chestnut Avenue, Oak Grove, (6) 1 Chestnut Avenue.

Activities: (1) Masonic Lodge, Newport, (2) Oak Grove School Board, (3) Elsmere Fire Company, (4) Elsmere Presbyterian Church.

Death: Died of high blood pressure (Note: There was no cure for the disease in 1940.).
