What Jesus Said About Worry:
27: Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28: And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30: Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31: Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32: (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34: Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Matthew 6: 27-34
Today, doctors caution us about the effects of worry and stress: From blood pressure to lack of sleep, which both carry their own set of health problems, worry is not good for you. Jesus knew this thousands of years ago. As He said, "Your Father in heaven knows what your needs are. If you, being evil, know how to give what is good to your children, how much more does God, who IS good, know how to give to His children?"
You must FIRST seek out God, and the kingdom of heaven. Get to know HIM. The fear of God is the beginning of all wisdom, as the Proverbs admonish. Read the Bible. Learn from it. Take it to heart. Start with the words of Jesus, if you want; they are plain enough. If the simple farmers and fishers of 2000 years ago could understand them, so will you.
Then, all the things that you worry about will be "added unto you" (given to you). No, this does not mean you can quit your job. It just means that, if you put forth an honest effort, and seek out the kingdom of God (follow His commandments, and love one another as He loves you), then good things WILL come your way!
I can testify from personal experience that this is true. I'm not saying RICHES will fall in your lap. I'm only saying that, when you seem to have nothing, and no way of meeting your bills, or buying food, the Lord WILL provide. YOU just have to have FAITH!
