CIVIC INVOLVEMENT Our shop sponsors or is involved with the following civic programs during the year: Clam/fish Chowder CookOff Championship Slug Races Chili CookOff Watermellon Seed Spitting Contest Dog Daze of June Dog Show Oktoberfest Christmas at the Port- arrival of Santa and party The proceeds from all of the above go to either the South Coast Humane Society or Oasis House for Battered Women.

TWO SISTERS, THATS WHO!!!!!!!! Once upon a time, two sisters saw an empty hole and decided to fill it. There was no ice cream being sold at the Port of Brookings-Harbor. So they bought a little old boat sales shack and turned their creativity loose. Hired a contractor willing to put up with their various goofy ideas and began to pull nails (while the carpenter pounded nails). In record time the building was remodeled and the shop opened, complete with blessing of the building by the local Tai Chi/Gung Fu Club doing the Lion Dance and the more modern occassion of ribbon cutting by the local Chamber of Commerce. They operated for 3 1/2 years without running water, hauling the water in to holding tanks and hauling the dishwater out to dump in the toity. Not only did the ladies dump dishwater in the local outhouse, they also had to run to empty their own water, even in the huricane force winds and pelting rains of winter. Now, their building has been remodeled again, a dockside enclosed patio added and water and full plumbing. It has been 6 1/2 years since slug ladies have to run in the rain to empty water, they have 4 sinks and their own personal toity. A full kitchen, 3 scooping freezers and 3 storage freezers. A class act.......

Location ... location ... location.... You can find us located at the Port of Brookings-Harbor, Oregon, dockside by the sports basin. Our little store is part of a growing community of shops located along the lower harbor road, which is a scenic harbor loop off of highway 101. Easy beach access. We are part of a one mile of hospitality and smiles, known as the CHETCO VILLAGE MERCHANTS. The building is right across from the sport basin and next door to the the Book Dock. Our shop is now the single longest retail building at the Port, we have been told and you have to walk awhile to get to the entrance. Kinda makes you a little hungrier when you get there, but worth it. We are open 11am to dark, 7 days a week. Oops, we lied, we close Christmas, New Years and Thanksgiving. We might close early if there is a huricane type storm brewing and no one has been in for 6 hours or so. To make sure we are open during a big storm or just whenever, please call us at (541) 469-SLUG We don't have a mailing address at the shop. We get all our mail at the Slug Lady's house (the old one). Want to hear a funny story? well I am going to tell you one. Lots of folks in our county have complained about their mail not getting delivered because of incorrect or incomplete addresses ( we are very rural and small community). Well, the slug ladys have received mail from all over the world (customers traveling) just addressed to: Slugs and Stones at the Port, Brookings Oregon.
