Entertainment 'Round About Cleveland

Looking for some fun...?

Well, the church and the reception hall are in that glitterdome, that paradise, the jewel on Lake Eeeerie, Exciting Eastlake.

One town east is the city of Willoughby. If you head east on Vine Street, you'll run right into it. The downtown area is walkable and pretty quaint. There are a couple of antiques stores, a coffee shop, a couple of bar & grills, and probably 5 other restaurants.

See: http://www.willoughbyohio.com

Maybe 15 minutes east of Eastlake and Willoughby, you'll come to Fairport Harbor, home of the one and only Pickle Bill's.

If you want some good fish on the eastside, or you want to watch Too Tall Tom Kall eat 57 buckets of crab legs, then you gotta stop by
Pickle Bill's

** The address above is from their website. If you want to Mapblast for directions, use Fairport Harbor or Painesville as the city, and a zip code of 44077.

for a general idea.

The east side suburbs have 2-way streets.
Downtown Cleveland has both 2-way and 1-way streets.
Heading west on Route 2 for about 20 - 25 minutes, you get into Cleveland.

The Rock Hall http://www.rockhall.com and the Great Lakes Science Center http://www.glsc.org/ are right next to each other, off Route 2, the East 9th Street exit.

The Cleveland Museum of Art http://www.clevelandart.org/ is undergoing a major renovation right now. Some of it is open, some of it is not. All of it is Awesome.

The Flats ( http://www.nauticaflats.com or http://www.cleveland.com/flats/ ) used to be the big nightspot. It's been replaced the last couple of years, day and night-wise, by

The Warehouse District ( http://www.warehousedistrict.org or http://www.cleveland.com/warehouseguide/ ).

I hear the Blind Pig Speakeasy has good food ( http://theblindpig.com/ ) and Sixth Street Under has good jazz ( http://www.pluggedincleveland.com/restaurants/1757+sixth+street+under+jazz+club.html ), but I've never been to either.

Jacobs Field is home to the Cleveland Indians,
The Greatest Baseball Team Of All Time.

If they're not in town, you could take in a Lake County Captains game, the Indians AAA-Affiliate back in Eastlake. Their field, Classic Park, is conveniently located at the corner of Route 91 and Vine Street. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/index.jsp?sid=t437

Across the street from Classic Park, on Vine Street, is Biagio's Pizzeria & Donut Shop.

It is AWE (wait for it) SOME.

The area near Jacobs Field is called the Gateway District, http://www.historicgateway.org/ or http://www.cleveland.com/gateway/ It has five (count 'em, five) off-Broadway theaters, all part of the Playhouse Square Center: http://www.playhousesquare.com/
You might want to see what's playing.

The Arcade might be something you want to see, http://www.clevelandskyscrapers.com/cleveland/arcade.html
It was the first building in Cleveland to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. There's a totally SWANK Hyatt Hotel there: http://www.cleveland.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp

In the University Circle area, you can go to Severance Hall and see the world renowned Cleveland Orchestra, http://www.clevelandorchestra.com/html/Severance/SevHistory.asp or http://www.clevelandorch.com

Want to take a daytime river cruise, or a night-time dinner cruise? You actually have TWO choices. Check out the Goodtime III http://www.goodtimeiii.com or the Nautica Queen, http://www.nauticaqueen.com

Or just go to Parma and run thru front yards knocking over the pink flamingos.
