When one takes a language course to learn a language other than what they are accoustom, one of the first things we did in my first of 3 1/2 years of class was for every one to learn their name in Hawaiian. Since my first name is Reno in english the teacher saw I was puzzled as how to translate this, as everyone in the class was busy with theirown name. She told me the name I was to use was "Lino" or "Kelino" meaning the spark of inspiration. This was a long time ago, about 15 years. As for the name "Akiwai" this was announced to me by a messenger of clarity, for what was, did, & will continue to take place for the "journey" I am making in life. The Akiwai actually translates from the older dialect of Hawaiian as to a full measure. |

A "Spiritual Healer & Guide", only arrogance
prevents us from this "path".... Carved of kiawe-wood, (mesquite), this Ki'i doesn't require a specific title name as the image is both available in the female and male form. The symbolism here is simple yet effective, Hina- Goddess of the moon, ruler of the tides of life,(the blood flow of the female of all species, the tides of the waters, both salted and fresh waters, and the rythumic patterns, provides "Guidance" in the ear on the spiritual side of this deity. The staff held in the left hand is that of the cobra, the serpent in any form represents that of the messenger. The feathers are to represent the effort of connection to the Heavens of flesh. This piece is currently been placed at the Harbor Gallery located downstairs from the seafood bar & restaurant, located i Kawaihai , Big Island , Hawaii. There are over 400,000 gods & goddess in every "culture", over 4,000 faces of each, only one CREATOR - the TIKI, the K'I, & the TOTEM , are tuning forks of spirituality when your "choice" asks God to come through you.... Your comments, questions, critique, are always welcomed........ |
