DIRECTIONS to Solo Point for the Canoe Practice
* Going north on I-5, from Olympia, take Dupont & Steilacoom exit and cross over the freeway.
* Just after the railroad tracks turn right toward Steilacoom (on Wilmington) and continue about 4 miles (through the military area).
* On the left side of the road there is a rather smalish brown, wooden sign reading "Solo Point". -- Take a left there and follow the road down to the water.
Note: There will be a couple more small signs for Solo Point, and you'll pass thorough a couple of big chain-link gates that are open. It's about a mile or two down to the water from the turn-off. Be aware of joggers and other foot traffic along that road.

If you need more information, call Nisqually Tribal Center, or one of the canoe captains.
Ray McCloud is skipper for Puyallup canoe. Am not sure just yet who the skipper is for Nisqually.
